Kind of on topic and kind of off topic.
But word around Elizabeth Oval today from supporters and was even told by a current dogs league player is that Ian Callinan has told the Crows he wont be playing against Centrals this year.
Not sure how true that is but It did come from some normally reliable sources.

2-3 years I think?
Either way much like the Rooster supporters and Johnston I wont be holding grudge against him if he does play.
on topic the SANFL needs a strong Sturt so im glad to see them make a positive start to the year.

In the agreement a condition was top up players from sanfl clubs wouldn't play in the games against their club of origin. As callinan isn't technically a top up player I thought we'd get shafted by the crows again and he'd play against us. Glad to hear if true.

it out of order, considering the Crows have paid him a decent wage for a few years. Maybe he should play like Lewie did against North. 0.3 for the day

Will be interesting to see how it pans out especially with Walker considering he is a required Crows AFL player. Apparently with Callinan it was one of his terms and conditions to signing with them as their captain. The people that were talking about it should have some kind of knowledge but who knows so often we hear these type things and they end up as nothing more than one eyed supporters wishful thinking.
Maybe with the Crows Reserves being so deplorable Callinan might chose to play feeling it wont decide the result or something.

Correction, needed a strong Sturt. Also needed a strong North, West, Norwood, WWT & Glenelg when it mattered, but that didn't eventuate.

I can't see how Tex could choose not to play as the Crows are his employer!
I would like to think it's true but who really knows?

If he's in the Crows twos and needs a game to get back in the AFL side he'll play ...
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Re: Rounds 2 - Sturt v Adelaide Post Game
While the AFL reserves sides have been beating pretty easy on each occasion, there could be a little pattern emerging.
The AFL reserves players fitness seems to be a factor with the AFL reserves sides winning the last quarter in each of the 3 games they have played.
So far
Adelaide 6.3
North 4.3
Adelaide 3.2
Sturt 1.2
Port Power 3.1
Norwood 1.5
Total being in last quarters
AFL reserves 12.6
SANFL Clubs 6.10

That sort of rumour only heightens my thoughts about the Crows mentality about entering the SANFL. They're not taking it seriously.

Agreed the obvious difference between callinan and walker is one can play afl for the crows, a very different situation.

Re: Rounds 2 - Sturt v Adelaide Post Game
A few observations from today's game at Unley.
Hardly any Crows fans at the game - can only assume Wedgie and his mates have scared them off for the season. But then I would no more travel all over Adelaide to see Sturt Reserves play unless I had a direct connection to the club or a player.
Due to the lack of Crows noise they got ignored by the umps. Just 3 frees paid to the Crows up to 3/4 time. No crowd noise screaming for "Holding the ball" or "Holding the man" etc means that many Crows frees that were there were simply waved as play on by the umps.
Due to the youth of many of the Crows players they were consistently out muscled or out marked in many one on one contests against Sturt today. Yes they won the last quarter but by then the atmosphere of the game resembled a club internal trial between Blue and White with a smattering of polite applause whenever White kicked a goal.
Can't see Crows Reserves finishing in the top 8.
