Seems about right to me.

Junior Coaches should never abuse umpires.

But they should never ever do it in Under 11s.

And they should never ever ever do it to a green shirt.

Presumably Broadview's committee will be giving him an even more serious talking to?

Agreed, umpire abuse should not be tolerated at any level in any form but most certainly not to a green shirt ump and in an impressionable age group like 11's

thats cool eidt my opinion cause as an umpire my input must mean jack shit hopefully if i get abused by one of these coaches i just hope the board supports me more

a full story ill tell you exactly what i know so a under 11s coach from broadview abused a green shirt umpire (real tuff) the matter was to be handled by broadview at first untill steve bawden complained then it went back to the NEMJA from there it became a joke end of story the result speaks for itself

the fact a claim was made that the green shirt handled players havent heard that one before

Havent heard how he is, know he got taken by ambos to hospital, we are all hoping he is ok, believe from what the trainers said was more a precautionary measure than anything, hope that is right, great work by the trainers and staff from both sides. Nothing sinister in it either he just ran into one of the Broadview guys i believe right on the final siren. If anyone from GG knows the lads condition if you can let me know so i can pass it onto our players, they were pretty upset seeing the neck brace etc go on .

On the upside was a pretty good game of footy that one, very impressed with the way GG ran the ball when they got the opportunity.

And another upside, very well umpired by the two lads, was a pretty tough physical match and they took control and handed out appropriate penalties IMHO

It is just a reminder to "keep things real" - enjoy the competition and skills that the game offers, but remember who is involved.

I watched my first game of junior footy in a while on Sunday, couldn't believe the amount of crap spewing out of some parents mouth. It's kids footy FFS.

We have a football version of that sign. I just haven't had time to make a frame & put it out at our modis games.

Not being involved in school football would like to know where the responsibility lays when a player that HAS to play football for his school gets injured.

So far from what i have been able to find out, schools (and i am talking private schools here) have nothing set in concrete.

In Club football now you have to have an injury management policy where as the club takes responsibility for injuries suffered.

It appears as though schools don't. I hope i have been misinformed re this but if not the schools are breaching a large number of AFL and Health, Safety and Recovery policies.

I know of 3 lads playing school footy at the moment that have suffered serious injuries and it has been left to their parents to go out get the appropriate treatment at their expense.

Thankfully my lad chose not to play school footy

I'm tied up with a junior football side . Umpires at junior football are a given that you keep your mouth closed but it does become very hard. Green shirt umpires should be given every encouragement and support.
We had two orange shirts on the weekend and by gee they were pretty ordinary. They really need to know the rules of which grade there umpiring. Our match was a under 13 game and you are allowed to bounce the ball as many times as you like. The umpire picked the player up for bouncing the ball more then twice and awarded a free kick. Some very dubious frees and non frees. Had many games last year that you are left dumbfounded. Sometimes it feels like the umps are evening up the game.
