Is it confirmed, or just the perpetual rumour?
Confirmed.
He's a class player. United would be rapt in signing him.

Fair get for united, but still wonder why some clubs spend massive on 1 or 2 players and expect to go from bottom to top? You would think if they spread the cash around, recruited 6 or 8 decent divvy 1/2/3 players, even fringe a graders, you would think they would get alot more out of the season.

Then why have won between 3 - 5 games consistently for the last 5 or so years ? They are notorious for throwing all their eggs in the same basket. If they have the money they sure don't spend it wisely.

They never get close to their points quota mate, they are a town of about 6 houses and it's virtually impossible to recruit or set up for a strong junior program. Peter Burgoyne was the last player to be getting big coin out there and that was at least 5 years ago, United is a proud club and most players that play out there enjoy the people, the atmosphere and club itself.

A point system doesn't allow them to do this.
Yeah but aren't ressie players 0 points? Ive seen plenty of div 1 b grade players that would dominate the plains league. Bring in 4 a graders worth 3 points each and throw in 3 or 4 zero pointers and ya starting to build a decent side.

Nope, not anymore. 2 points for div 1 and 2 ressies and 1 point for div 3 ressies I believe. Stand to be corrected on that though.

I can't remember, but is it possible that's just an intra SAAFL rule? Or does that go for inter-league transfers as well?

I think you mean "Protect the depth of Div 1 and 2 Amateur League from both lower division C9AFL teams and those nasty country teams"

The SAAFL are implementing internal clauses like this so SAAFL players have more incentive to remain in the SAAFL, seems logical to me. Maybe leagues like the Barossa should follow suit, instead of not allowing any internal transfer and making players leave their league if they want a change of club.

Its not an internal clause and when you think affiliated league, think division also
