Rnd 5 - South v Adelaide @ Hickinbotham (Sat N 2/5)
The Panthers are sitting atop of the table and will be very pleased with their win against the Roosters last week. Adelaide would be annoyed the lights didn't go out 2 minutes later at The Bay as they had the Tigers on ice...
This will be an interesting contest and could be closer than people may anticipate...
Saturday night, May 2nd @ Alan Hickinbotham Oval, Noarlunga
Reserves @ 4:30pm
League @ 7:10pm
Broadcast - 1197am RPH Adelaide from 7:00pm

The curtain raiser this week is between Happy Valley and Reynella U16 sides.

South had plenty in the locker against North and could / should have won by a much bigger margin. Their record hasn't been great against the Reserve sides so far but Adalaide Reserves are in for a pasting no matter what the weather. South by at least 5 goals but should be closer to 10 goals

South should win, I hope so.
I feel that it will be close though and can see the Crows getting up in this one.
Go Panthers.

To be played in front of the smallest crowds in SANFL history, A cold potentially wet Saturday night against AFL ressies that few support could cost the club money to host the game. Having said that i hope South include Fraser Dale and win.

I think Fraser Dale will be included for Roland Ah Chee and Michael Ross to debut for Sam Overall.

No parking issues at this one...there will be 3 men and a dog in attendance.
Panthers by 27 to make it 3 in a row.

Bloody shame too.
South finally getting their act together could do with a bit of support.

Penguins to out number the Crows supporters down there.
No trouble parking around the boundary

They've got a SFL Under 16 game on beforehand so that'll double the crowd.

Atleast until the start of the league game.
How many will hang around, unfortunately I think most will leave straight after their game

They will stream out before the main event starts.
If there is 1000 there I'll be surprised !
Know a few south supporters refusing to go to this one .

Re: Rnd 5 - South v Adelaide @ Hickinbotham (Sat N 2/5)
I agree 1000 might be the magical number but I'd assume the official figure will be just over that. There just isn't enough South support and playing a team with maybe 50 that go and support their team.
South easily in this one.

In 1999 South vs Central at Noarlunga drew a crowd of 950 people. That is the only time that I have known of a league crowd to be less than 1000.

F: Cailotto, Haren, Rankine
HF: Seccull, Eddy, Gotch
C: Liddle, P. Kerin, Rolfe
HB: Murphy, Giddings, Irra
B: Daniel, Crabb, Rose
R: Bass, Veide, Cross
INT: Dale, Redigolo, Overall, Macleod, Ross
IN: Dale, Redigolo, Ross
OUT: Ah Chee (shoulder)
Pleasing to see Redigolo back, after missing 2014 with a knee reco. Was one of our better players in 2013. Also encouraging to see a youngster from our zone promoted in Ross.
No Bollenhagen for the Ravens. Would have liked to see him play, given he walked out on South in the early stages of 2012 and was very vocal in his criticism of the club when Ronnie was sacked.
Complacency a factor this week I feel, but given our woeful record against the AFL sides we shouldn't be taking anything for granted. Ravens will have 11-12 AFL listed players. Which player(s) will be told to hit the showers half way through the third term this week?

Danger game for South this one. Would pick them but will not be in the least bit surprised if Adelaide win.
Weather forecast has improved somewhat so crowd won't be as low as some have suggested. Around 1800 I'd say.

The newspaper reports following West Torrens' first matches in 1897 describe only 'a few' people being present - I believe they got less than 1,000 for them.

Yeah but was it a league match or association match then?
