Adelaide Plains Football League
Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Good move from Angle Vale to join the Adelaide Plains league.
They are closer to the other clubs around them than in the ammos. The North Eastern League would have been too bigger jump in standard and the Barossa comp would have been way out of their league. Seems a good fit for the club. They might struggle a little early on though as the Adelaide Plains league would still be better than divvy 7 of the ammos

or the Eagles go to yorks it is the perfect out for both clubs
by the way oyster don't underestimate the comp

Not underestimating the comp. I quite enjoy watching an Adelaide Plains game. I saw Virginia, Balaklava, Mallala and United play this season
and they were good entertaining games of footy.
Its just the North Eastern comp is a little bit higher in standard and the Barossa a fair bit better in standard.
That's not taking away from the comp, as it has much to offer. It just lacks a little in standard with one strong & one very strong comp around it.

There is no way other leagues would take HWE.

There were question marks around their existence in the APFL 18 months ago. Yes, they seem to be back on track for now, but how far away are we from them electing to play the "lets merge" card AGAIN (that would make it three or four times?)? Hamley and HWE are the two clubs in the APFL that people are most concerned about. Why would any league open up their doors for them when they are surrounded with such uncertainty? What will change if they go elsewhere? Folks traveling up from metro areas to play would then have to travel even further for matches.
Plus, I am sure there is an element of sour grapes with how the AV process unfolded, but I'd be disappointed if HWE and the other clubs with the same mentality (i.e. their neighbours), put themselves ahead of the interest of the broader Adelaide Plains community, and decided to pursue a move to neighbouring leagues just because they didn't get their way with the whole AV saga. If they are that unhappy with the current APFL board - put up alternative candidates for consideration. Simply sweeping out the entire board and starting from scratch again would've put the APFL back 10 years.
Personally I'd hate to see HWE not involved in the APFL going forward. They're been a powerhouse club over the past two decades and it would be a shame for them to loose all their credibility within the APFL region and move on. But anything is possible in this day and age I guess

Should bear in mind neighbouring clubs aren't necessarily in the APFL though.

Yep, though I was referring more to their neighbour within the APFL. I guess Bute would be the obvious choice for HWE if things get too difficult to go it alone.

His grandad is a lifemember at Eastern Park and was president for many years.
Im not sure whether his dad played footy for EP but he most certainly played alot of cricket there and was heavily involved in commitees etc.
Nathan also played alot junior footy for EP.
