Strath 17 - 6 Def L Creek 5 - 6

Conditions - Perfect

Hard to take a lot out of the match as Strath are a far superior side to the Creeks and the result was a fair reflection in the difference in ability of the 2 teams.
Despite coming off 2 miraculous wins, the Creeks wernt expected to challenge Strath as the Creeks fielded a predominantly very young and inexperienced side partly due to having 4 outs from the previous week and as a result were giving away plenty to Strath in regards to height, strength, skill and experience.

To be honest i actually think the Creeks did quite well to hold Strath to only 23 scoring shots and apart from their straight kicking for goal, i think Strath should be a little disappointed that they didnt score more heavily.
Strath defense was miserly but then again they didnt have that much to overcome down there as the Creeks undermanned forward line struggled to have any impact apart from the creative Howell who has had a stellar past month of footy for the Hawks.

Havent seen the Bays play this year but from what i have seen, Mt Compass were far and away the most impressive of any of the other teams ive seen.

Whats that mean? Very little i suggest as things can change quickly with teams form and personnel from week to week so i guess the premiership race is still reasonably wide open tho one could say with some degree of confidence its a 3 horse race between Compass , Bays and Strath.

I think we are overlooking the dominance of Mount Compass who haven't lost a game since round one. They are getting the job done every week. Bays are doing ok but have lost too much fire power from their mid field along with McGregor up front. Strath probably a better chance of challenging Compass when it counts.

Business end of the year now, couple of predictions:

A's Mail medal, early on would've said Tom Carroll getting best in the first 6 matches but since then had heavy tags and injuries, so I'll go with Marc Elliott, playing more in the midfield this year and kicking plenty.
A's GF, Strath vs Compass with Strath to win narrowly having the two strong goal kicking forwards in simmounds and Elliott over the one in Pinyon.

B's medal, toss up between Rob Lyon from creek, Shaun Hutchy from Pongy.
B's GF, Willunga vs Enc Bay, Willunga to win, they'll turn it on for another finals series

Reasonably new to the south coast and ventured along to the local showdown on the week end at Victor, First time I've been to a country footy game and can't get a bloody steak sandwich after half way through the second quarter of the 1's. What a joke. Ressies players that enjoy a beer after a win come out late in the second to not be able to get a feed. Isn't this where a club creates an atmosphere selling some beers and allowing the patrons who paid to come in the gate to get a feed? Along with how a club raises money to keep a club going and perhaps put towards upgrading certain facilities over time?

Mate.. You are so right.. Other Clubs do it a lot better than VHFC. Most Clubs you can get something to eat until the A's finish. I also was there and thought how stupid.

Seems to be as much interest on here as Langhorne Creek had in their match with Yankalilla yesterday.
Creeks put in a shocker yesterday showing little propensity to work hard, run and create.
At one stage 10 minutes b4 half time the scoreboard read Yank 9 - 7 to Creeks ZERO POINT ZERO !!!!
a few late 2nd quarter goals saved the home side from complete embarrassment.
A fairly competitive 2nd half ensued as the Creek backline worked hard to limit the damage but scoring was hard work for them.
Yank were v. good as theyve shown throughout the year and if it wasnt for some very narrow losses they'd be worthy of lining up on Elimination Final day.
Creeks were VERY disappointing and are gonna need to regroup quickly and find some passion or they'll suffer some heavy losses in coming weeks having to face Willunga, Bays and Compass who will be fine tuning themselves for the Finals.
Victor is another team who have dropped off the radar after sitting comfortably in 5th spot only 3 - 4 weeks ago.
In light of Goolwa / Pt Elliots recent form its hard to believe they lost to the Creeks both times this season.
I guess injuries and unavailabilities explain the above occurrences ?

VIctor turned at the half way mark at 6 and 3, 2 games clear in 5th and haven't won a game since. Yes injuries hurt (obviously Tarquin Brown is a huge out) and plenty of changes every week doesn't help but there have been some extremely disappointing performances in there when we've seen what is capable...on their day. With wins over Compass, Willunga and Strath, 2 close losses (Goolwa 6pts, Yank 8pts) there was a lot to like....only got touched up by Bays. Then most of the wins were pretty close too.

Continuing to give colts a taste of senior footy which is good, but not a lot of positives to say about the second half of the year past that. Time for a few with quite a few games under their belts to step up and play to their abilities. Consistently.

I agree that the standard has seemed to have dropped off a bit the last few years but then again my opinion is probably a little blurred due to watching the Creek play each week and they have struggled the last few years after being near or at the top for a sustained period b4 that.
Having said that, im pretty confident that the Creek, Yank, Willunga teams of 2012 would have comfortably handled any team in the comp from last year or this year.

As an Adelaide based Pongy supporter is there any one that can give a summary of Pongy vs Victor last weekend. Bit of a surprise shellacking.

Victors form the previous few weeks leading up to the Myponga game was pretty average and Myponga on their day like any of the bottom 5 teams can be more than handy so the comfortable margin wasnt a surprise to me.
Then again, next week the results could be arse about face and i wouldnt be surprised. Just the way the comp is which certainly isnt a bad thing.

Brokey, Tom corns, beans were all sidelined either rested or niggling injuries, maybe even a couple more I didn't notice. Then Tiller busted his shoulder, Parsons did a hamstring, Ritter broke and dislocated his jaw and Bolton sprained an ankle so compass played the last qtr with 17 out there.

That along with Myponga Sellicks having TC and Clarke getting back into stride after coming back from injury last week, just managed to sneak them over the line. Mudlarks probably should've had the game stitched up before all the compass injuries hit but they kept them in it with bad accuracy early.
