Server Stuff

Hey all

I'm working out some things on the site at the moment (and will keep doing so) to cater for the massive size of the database, as well as anything else that is happening.

There may be some issues at some times but hopefully not lasting long.

Feel free to post things here, and if you can't get to the site, then please post on the SAFooty Facebook page (Or just reply to Lisa's post since it will no doubt be there)

One thing I need to do is purge the sessions table. This means that you may need to log in again (ie, kicked off) so sorry about that.

Hey there... Currently I can only log into the Forum on my phone. Not on my PC... Bit weird is there a reason for this?

This page can't be displayed.

Other websites work no problem.

Checked my settings etc, all looks good at this end.

Diagnostics report says sa footy.net is not responding

im accessing it on chrome on my PC right now and its fine. And Safari on my Mac

I have a theory as to why the site times out/crashes and why it's been doing it alot lately. I think it has to do with members editing and/or deleting posts (perhaps while using Tapatalk)

Earlier I went to edit a post of mine when using Tapatalk (which is now not working at the moment) in the AFL finals week one thread and then after hitting submit it didn't wanted to post, the site timed out and I couldn't get on here for 15 mins.

I thought of the other day that when someone goes to edit or delete a post in a busy thread it causes to site to time out or even crash. Thoughts??

It's been crashing and stalling for me on a daily basis, @Dissident says the software is playing up due to the shear size/popularity of the site and unloading at some solutions I think/hope.

FWIW the site has been a little more stable for me of late. I've not had issues logging in at all.

Yep daily occurance for me too.

and to crash for a lengthy period on the biggest night of the SA Footy calendar is horrendous.

Imagine if it wasn't being shown on TV?

(not a crack at Diss either by the way, it's not like he's the one making it crash all the time) - but lets face it - the software is sucking.

We had 280 odd people on here on Magarey night a few years back without any drama, nowdays the site crashes with not even 60 people on it.

I'm a techo dummy - but trying to blame the amount of people on here just doesn't add up.

Way more people on the site 5 years ago in general compared to now.

This might be a simple theory.....think about the amount of data that is being stored from every post plus more users added each day, surely that makes it more prone to glitches?

Yeah by why has this only started happening over the last couple of months? It's not like we've had a massive influx of posts to cause it.
