!@#$%*$#!! You Supercoach!
This thread is for anyone wishing to vent against the evil SuperCoach Gods. Naturally enough, we don't actually need the season to start before the bad news starts.
With the new third man up rule, giant Ruckmen have the potential to be if you'll pardon the pun, big scorers. Now the granddaddy of them all, Big Lurch Sandilands is cheap as chips because the giant goose keeps breaking down. All good...the big fella has been 'training the house down' like every other player in the league. All aboard! Now the latest news from C0ckburn is that Lurch has strained a calf and will miss the opening 'what the hell is it called this year' challenge on February 25. FFS the season hasn't even started and Sandi is in the medical room. Sandilands has an ownership of about 20% with many coaches opting for the Gawnilands ruck combo which allows them to put in a gun on another line.
This injury news will cause a massive amount of restructures in SC land with the first lock out 50 days away. !@#$%*$#!! You Supercoach!

REB

Big Mummy being injured as well does not help in the big man stakes.
I had penciled in young Sharenberg in as a defensive cash cow. Buckley in his chat today said he would have to work his way through the VFL. Back to the drawing board.

Is still training with a splint so shouldn't lose much on the fitness side and I reckon the club will get him back in straight away. Club is aiming for round 2-4

Hows everyone going with their ruck choices this year? Doesnt seem as simple as the last couple years, there are no real standouts

Few injuries over the weekend, Conoiglio probably the one that effects SC the most, out for 6 weeks.
Other than Eddy (who I am not sold on), forward rookies a bit thin this season??

I think rookies are thin across the board, going to be hard to generate cash.

No real standouts?
Gawn Grundy Steph and goldy are well ahead of everyone else.
Nankervis is the value pick.
Gawn is a lock, then I'll likely go with Steph or nankervis

Gawn is a lock if Spencer doesn’t play. He scored 68 with Spencer playing who scored 81
Grundy is looking ok but I wouldn’t say he’s a standout
Martin will be good only if he rucks by himself otherwise get ready for scores like last year.
Goldy is in the same boat as the other rucks sharing the ruck work. He scored 56 against GWS, hardly convincing.
Nankervis is definitely a value pick.
Sandi has showed good signs but can we trust his body.
Last year it was Gawn and Goldy that were the standouts, this year its not so clear. You’ve just mentioned 5 players that could go well but to me none of them are the obvious 2 best choices.

Re: !@#$%*$#!! You Supercoach!
Screw Gawn. Upgrade target. I'm on Hickey. Splashed the extra cash on Witts as R3 but will that could all change is Gawn is on his pat Malone in the ruck come round one. I hope they pick Spencer for the first part of the season so that Gawn has something left at the business end then let him go it alone when the whips start cracking. That way he's a perfect mid season upgrade on any of Sandilands, Nank, Witts or even Ryder.

Re: !@#$%*$#!! You Supercoach!
I think the Ruck has changed this year with the new game plans and all will not score as highly as they once did.
Goodwin seems convinced on 2 rucks and Goldy seems happy to share it around. Locking up all that cash on Gawn or Goldy for questionable returns seems silly, better spending the cash on premium mids.
I think a new structure in the ruck is required and I am contemplating having three to minimise the risk.

Re: !@#$%*$#!! You Supercoach!
Another complicating factor with rookie selection this year is the three Sunday games in Round 1 with North, GWS, Geelong and Adelaide only naming their final teams on Friday night. All these teams have potential rookies that may miss the cut. It could lead to the site melt down again as people scramble to fix their teams before lockout. This also could see teams loading up on Marchbank, Hoskin-Elliot and Butler if they are picked for the Thursday game.

Yeh Thursday night games are a killer for fantasy footy, especially round 1

Absolutely agree, REB.
Most definitely a look for when the Eddy/Taranto/Miles/Butler cows are ready to be taken to the slaughterhouse.
