That %^&*ing song..

Good game of footy.

Dum-dum dum-dum dum-de-dum.
The most brain dead combination of notes in the history of football. Three Blind Mice would be an improvement.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

2/5 in the footy tips for the second week in a row.

Tough to tip so far this year.

I'm showing way to much faith in the Dogs and nowhere near enough in the Bays.

Looks like a very interesting and often unpredictable season is unfolding. 8)

I hate the playing of the opposition's song both before and after the game.
Before the game, it is too welcoming, after it rubs salt into the wound.

SA 13.6
ADE 13.12

Goal Kickers: S. Overall 4, B. Seccull 2, R. Barnes 2, B. Haren 2, T. Fields, M. Rankine, J. Mc Mahon
Best Players: S. Overall, M. Rose, X. Gotch, N. Liddle, M. Rankine, B. Seccull

Decent game in front of 2400ish attendees. Wasn't at the game but watched it online (stream worked well, limited camera angles due to the country venue), cant argue with the best players named by the club. Overall providing a real presence. Really liked Seccull's and Liddle's games.

Struggled to contain the Ravens' tall timber (Dear in particular, with 3.7, could have buried us) and had a few chances in the last term to pinch the win but not quite good enough.

I have just been reading over the thread and have a serious question.

I was previously under the impression that Euge was a good bloke but have heard several damning stories as of late the completely contradicting that notion. I know Rostrevor have several specific examples of shall we say questionable leadership  There are however two sides to every story but some of their details are pretty disgraceful if even half true.

Is he genuinely an average bloke or even worse and did he actually flip off the crowd?

Did not see the incident as I was at a different part of the ground but several people have claimed he did it.
There are plenty of stories that don't paint him in a good light from his days at Norwood either

Certainly when coaching at Salisbury North he had focus problems when playing Uni that should not have been tolerated. The GF performance saw these repeated.
He wouldn't be the first guy to be a ripping bloke but also one who suffers white line fever. Hearing from people who've been associated through the SA Govt he is excellent with youngsters even his behaviour is not necessarily a brilliant example to follow.

Apparantley there was a power outage at Prospect for a while and quite a few bar codes werent counted, should be amended to 3.2 -3.3k in the coming days. The original figure did suprise me as I thought there looked close to 3.5k.

Yeah, the power outage was right at the time there would have been a few people coming in as well.

I am pretty sure it was just a tick over 6,000 at The Parade on Thursday night.

Good crowd. Thanks it wasn't listed in the Sunday Mail for some reason.

From what I can gather, both crowd figures for Glenelg's round 1 & 2 matches have been well under what was actually there.

I have only seen one crowd bigger than Round 1 and that was the 10K on Anzac Day when Tex made his comeback. From what I can gather the kids might not have been included which would have had that crowd well above 5. That would have been closer to around the mark. The place was packed all the way around. Much bigger than the really good 4.9 crowd from Friday.

Hopefully the lads are 3 and 0 and the next home game v Dogs can draw well in the traditional Saturday arvo timeslot.

I'm no Glenelg oval expert, but I was guessing something in the 6,000 ball park before I heard the official figure. I also thought the crowd was pretty well half and half. Sturt definitely outnumbered Glenelg at the northern end, but the southern end was dominated by the Bays. If it was 50/50 then the Glenelg crowd made a noise beyond what you'd expect 2,400 to make. I would not be surprised to hear that figure was way short of the actual attendance

Expert you are not. Bay folk don't populate the northern end at home games, that is always for away supporters. To say the crowd was half and half is simply not true. However I do congratulate the amount of tweed and upturned collars that attended as it was way more than usual.

I'm just happy you found your way to the oval after not being there for umpteen years.

Definitely know of issues with crowd counting at Glenelg at the first game; issues with scanning apparently that caused the number to be considerably underestimated, by how much though I don't know. Certainly going to be some decent crowds this year if our current form continues.

Yes the northern end was where the away supporters were, I thought I mentioned that. I also noticed that the other end was dominated by the Bays folk. I take it that you want to assert that there were more Glenelg fans than Sturt. You might be correct, could you offer some reasons why you think this is true?

I made the assertion based on my vision and hearing. I thought the crowd represented a great turn out by all involved.
