But won’t you be tired from staying up late?
No, I'd be starting work at noon at the earliest. Going to hit the bevvies big time on AD Eve!

Thank God for that.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Early MCG estimates have it at 80k on Tuesday night and 90k Wednesday. Being a Melbourne home game will mean the numbers are a little down on Tuesday night
Serious question now. I’ll be in Melbourne next week and thinking of going to the Anzac eve game. Anyone know what ticket sales are like at the moment? I can’t be arsed buying one in advance and just want to rock up to the gates and buy one.

Ticket sales are a little slow but would still doubt there will be any walk ups as I think the last GA is released tomorrow or Thursday I think and the Richmond members will gobble them up

If not, why not have one next weekend as well?
This. ANZAC Day only for the last post. It's not a marketing opportunity. Not looking forward to the Port game, I reckon we are going to get pumped.
I think the majority of the football public only want to see the last post on ANZAC day, ridiculous every game, as is the National Anthem for finals other than the GF. The AFL probably do it to include the other 16 teams as ANZAC day will always, rightly or wrongly, be between ESS and COLL. I'm on the fence on that one.

yeah i feel the same. I dont really see why it should be essendon and collingwood only on anzac day, but the AFL will keep doing it because melbournites dont show up unless its a "marquee" game
i dont mind that the whole round is anzac themed though. just the awarding of medals and the last post every game we could do without

And wouldn't have young kids to take to the dawn service, and by the sounds of it you wont be attending either, so yeah, you would welcome it.

I'm going to hit it hard on Tuesday night at a gig and front up for the dawn service, might not be much of a gap between the two but it's a small price to pay in comparison to the one I'll be acknowledging.

It’s one game per year LM. Time to just relax a bit.
I don't need to relax, a forum will never piss me off, I think ANZAC Day is the most sacred of all public holidays IMO, not sure that many kids sports start at 6am on a weekend day.
Each to their own, You like Thursday night footy, you don't have kids that would be staying up going or wanting to attend, it would've suited me when I was in my 20's undoubtably.

It sounds like my itinerary, I'll be rough around the edges but have a deso for the morning, will top up at the RSL though.

Dawn service is a short walk for me. Very handy in this instance.
Dawn service in Melbourne this year. Normally go in Gawler or the City before flying over but suited us better to fly over the night before this year. Offloading the spare tickets I had paid for the flights and accommodation.
