Kind of appropriate. A high noon stoush! Strap yourself in and get ready for the ride! It's about to get supercharged...... Rob Gerard will be on the phone to Greg Griifin right now!

Can someone from the Eagles camp post that email? Very interesting developments, if true.

This is on their website:

The club is disappointed at the result of yesterday’s Preliminary Final against North Adelaide.

During the first four minutes of the final quarter the coaching staff became aware of the fact that North Adelaide had 19 players on the field. Several on ground officials were immediately advised of the discrepancy.

As a result of this the Club, in consultation with our lawyers, have agreed to write to the SANFL citing law 5.1 of the Laws of the Game.

This correspondence with SANFL is to be lodged by midday today. The Club is waiting for a response regarding the breach. At the moment SANFL is still investigating the incident.

We will keep members and supporters informed on the progress of this matter.

SANFL STATEMENT – PRELIMINARY FINAL

The issue of North Adelaide Football Club having 19 players on the field during yesterday’s preliminary final against Woodville West Torrens has been referred to the SA Football Commission.

The Commission – the governing body of SANFL – will meet this afternoon to be briefed on the matter before deciding on the next step in the process for SANFL to reach an outcome.

No further updates from SANFL will be available until after this.

Then as the rules state nothing can become of it. The rule says that the captain or acting captain has to make the call to the on-field umpire.

the rules also stated at the time that the match is complete when the umpire hears the siren.

the AFL commission overruled in that instance and made the appropriate rule amendments, so i dont see why the same cant happen here

Do you mean the St Kilda v Fremantle draw in Launceston that was overturned days after the match & the win awarded to Freo?

ABC news: SANFL confirms North Adelaide had an extra player on the field in preliminary final

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-17/s ... l/10254430

From the article:

Eagles chief executive Luke Powell said the points scored by North Adelaide during those controversial five minutes should not be counted.
"The SANFL has got to put what's best for the integrity of the competition, and until that happens we can't really say what we'd like too much," he said.

All of a sudden integrity is important?

The short answer is no.

Than what’s the issue? North win and advance. Simples

Agreed, hilarious the Eagles are now concerned about the integrity of the competition. Even funnier they think the SANFL should be for once.

Not really, if the Interchange steward and 4th umpire has reported it. Then 7.2b comes in to play but the rules are not clear given the delay on the decision. Under 7.2b it can be a fine, reversal of match or alternative penalty.

Cant be a replay, just make a FAIR decision and get on with it..... I honestly beleive that amount of time with an extra player is too much to ignore. Eagles thru. ......however i have a feeling the result will stand.

To play in GF

EA $3

The fairest option would be to remove what North scored during their time of infringing, not that I think it should occur, i don't think making Norwood wait an extra week is the answer.

Just such a bizarre set of circumstances at this level.

If lawyers get involved they will rip this clause to threads as its badly written which the lawyers will love.
The rule reads like this.

7.2 PROCEDURE FOR INTERCHANGE
The following procedure shall apply to the interchange of Players during
a Match who are listed on the Team Sheet:
(a) unless Law 7.3 applies, the Players intending to interchange shall
leave and enter the Playing Surface through the Interchange Area
;
(b) where a Player does not leave or enter the Playing Surface as specified
under Law 7.2 (a), the Interchange Steward and/or a field Umpire shall
report the circumstances to the Controlling Body, including the scores at
the time. The Controlling Body may determine the matter by way of fine,
reversal of Match result or other sanction as it deems appropriate.

The bit in bold is the bit that will get North off the hook. As long as the 19th player came off through the interchange gate, I don't think rule 7.2(b) can come into play which means there can't be a reversal of results.
Unless the SANFL change the wording of the rule which would then get appealed by North in court and most likely get overturned.
