I see the Indian ball polishers have a ridiculous amount of bandaging on their fingers much like Warner had, you cant tell me its for medical reasons.i assume its to stop any sweat getting on the rough side of the ball when they polish the ball

Loving his work ethic this test. Bowled his heart out in the 1st innings, held up and end with the bat. Yeah dropped a bloody sitter but shit he's a bit ****** at the moment.whufc wrote:Whoever got Pat Cummins body right for test cricket is a genius.

Agree, just about our most important player in the team right now.whufc wrote:Whoever got Pat Cummins body right for test cricket is a genius.
Shane Warne reeling off stats earlier about Hazelwood and Starc and their wickets and averages in Tests during 2018 and they are not that great. Talk about us having the best attack in the world is just not the case.
Cummins however has the best record out of all of them as first change bowler. As whufc said, whoever got him to where his body appears so strong these days needs to work with the rest of the pace bowlers in the country like Pattinson who continually break down still.

Re: 2018/19 Australian Summer of cricket
I would love to see Starc’s average for the top 6 batsmen vs bottom 6
Considering his career average is 28 and his renowned for cleaning up the tail, I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the mid 30’s at best

Burns has as good a first class record as Shaun Marsh let alone Mitch and a better test record than either. I bet if he had a W.A. connection he would be in the test team.whufc wrote:At least Burns is in form and has a history of hitting long form runs as a openernortherner wrote:Correct.... but there is no one else. Both should never play again for Australia at Test level.
Kurtis Patterson too averages as much at first class level as Shaun Marsh and has started the Shield season well. Surely he too is worth a go.
I know that they can't do it but unless they score centuries in the final innings of this test I would bring in Burns, Patterson and Handscomb (for all his technical flaws he has a much better average than S Marsh at test level) for the Sydney Test.
Even Moises Henriques, who I have never thought was test standard has a better first class record than M Marsh.

Agree with Burns and Patterson getting a gig. Handscomb I think needs to seriously work on his technique but he's certainly not a worse batting option than Mitch Marsh.

There is no way in hell you can play Handcomb next test on the back of smacking around Greg West ffs
Pattinson has not done enough in the shield , if any bowler is to come in it will be Tremain or Richardson hopefully for Starc the peaheart

You'd have Monty Burns and Sir Les Patterson in instead of Stan Darsh and 'Rachel' Finch.RB wrote:Agree with Burns and Patterson getting a gig. Handscomb I think needs to seriously work on his technique but he's certainly not a worse batting option than Mitch Marsh.

Been thinking of who they can bring in, as they have to make changes, can't keep going with the same top six.Grenville wrote:You'd have Monty Burns and Sir Les Patterson in instead of Stan Darsh and 'Rachel' Finch.RB wrote:Agree with Burns and Patterson getting a gig. With Big Bash on, makes it hard to choose who should be selected.
I keep going back to Sheffield Shield, and to me the guy who should be picked is Matthew Wade.
Has two Test centuries to his name, is clearly the leading run scorer in SS this season, and looks like is hitting the ball as well as ever.
I know he divides opinion bit like Marsh brothers, but at least he values his wicket and will give 100% as well as bit of mongrel to the team.

I am talking about Kurtis Pattinson, not James Pattinson. Kurtis Pattison is averaging over 47 this shield season and has an identical career average to Shaun Marsh, who at 35 years of age surely has had too many chances.
Actually I hadn't thought of Matthew Wade. I thought that he was a wicked keeper but you make a good point about his batting. He would be a better number 6 than Mitchell Marsh.

Re: 2018/19 Australian Summer of cricket
Wade just smacked em in the BBL, must be a sure thing for the test team now.
I'd play Tom Cooper ahead of Handscomb just have to tell him if he doesn't score a ton before each match he will be dropped, will average more than Bradman.

I’ve held this thought for a while - he’s very pro Marsh brs.
Yes Langer has come in at a difficult time, but he’s clearly a yes man. Softly spoken with views that don’t upset.
The jury is still well & truly out in him.
