I used to umpire netball but was the worst for arguing with umps - even got a game supsension once because I told one she was so bad I'd make sure she never umpired again [emoji38]
Not surprised at this for some reason [emoji6]

Yes we are.

I must say, I never give umpires grief when I'm supporting or coaching, the worse thing I do is after a game I'll go and shake one of the umpires hand after the game and say "well done mate, I think you done an excellent job" the other I'll just shake his hand and say bugger all.

I was never much of a shit giver to the umps as a player, I'd wait til we're one on one and question things though.

Wild generalization.

As a player in both Footy & Cricket, I certainly challenged umpires at times, but never over the top. Never suspended in either footy or cricket, not even reported.

As a Footy Ump, I appreciate how hard the job is. I "rarely" criticize umps as a result.... that said I know a few in the HFL, and I give them a bit of a razz at times, in fun though.

I don't enjoy cricket umpiring that much. Thought about doing it, but when its over 30 degrees, I'd rather be having a beer watching than standing out in the sun for 6 hours - feck that!

I didnt find umpiring in the heat that bad, but yes, for someone who likes a beer like you do, it wouldnt work

Just imagine, if I umpired cricket, any bloke who got wrapped on the pad after 5.30pm, would be automatically out!

I used to umpire finals in our comp if my team didn't make the finals or got bombed out, I don't mind cricket umpiring, I hate caught behind's though, LB's are easy, too many things to take into consideration with a caught behind and you have to make a decision there and then.

Not at all, you know straight away if it was plumb or not and you only pay the obvious ones.

Caught behinds though, could've flicked to pad, the bat could've flicked the pad or the ground, wind could be going the opposite direction and you didn't hear a snick.

Had a cracking day at the races on Saturday, one of those very rare days where I couldn't do much wrong on the punt.

Anyway there were 4 of us up in the members, we all chucked in $20 for the Adelaide quaddie and we told one mate who never puts them on it was his turn, he resisted but went ahead and got it done. First leg runs and number 3 gets up which we have @ $7, beauty we are off, I casually remark "you did put down the right numbers didnt you?" to which he replied, yep here is the ticket, I look and no number 3 in 1st leg, there is number 2 which we didn't select.....oh no...never fear I though, we will probably bomb out next leg....nup, then I picked Despatch at $21 in the 3rd leg and we then jag the last leg.

Paid $5k and we had it for 13% - $167 return each

My mate was shattered, I laughed as I was well up anyway and it could have happened to anyone of us, another mate was filthy!

Could have been worse as we had one horse running for $20k so look on the brightside...
