Bottom team with no backline gets flogged away by one of the best teams in the comp, no surprise there. Bottom team nearly rolls 'the best team in the competion' last week..now that's a surprise. I reckon Bolton's on the right track but the only team with a gutted backline that is winning games is Richmond.

Collingwood were "up" for the Port game on the Friday night then went into the Carlton game just thinking it was job done, they took the foot off the pedal and put it back on for the last quarter, Carlton can take nothing from that game. Nothing.

They didn't "read the room" at all there, did they? They thought they'd finish 12th-14th and Adelaide 10th-12th and the pick would have been giving up 4 or 5 for 10 or 12.

Shows where they are at, as a club, not just the coach. The whole football department thought they were going to win 6-8 games or thereabouts.

When does Silvagni get put under the microscope?

Imagine if they had to start again.

I'm not concerned by the no 1 draft pick. As I keep saying, we don't need draft picks, we need bigger bodies. Bringing 18 yo kids into this side isn't going to fix anything. As you can see, our midfield need about 3 years in the gym.

Silvagni? Why, because he's brought in a heap of good kids? Don't see what you're getting at there.

SOS is a dud. Has GWS struggled since he left or improved ??

Picking top 10 talent isn’t the hard part.recruiters would mostly have the same players just in slightly different orders imho.

Wasting picks for GWS duds plus Throwing away a potential no 1 draft pick in a rebuild due to arrogance is criminal.

Quite simply SOS was suppose to rebuild this list into something better and has monumentally failed imho.

The Pies played maybe ten more minutes of football against you than they did against Carlton. They did the same thing on ANZAC Day. The Blues were also raped by the maggots as well.

How about all the B Grade GWS players he recruited?

Imagine the "bigger bodies" you could trade in with the no.1 pick at your disposal...

F*** the rebuild, they've doing that since Jesus played half back for Jerusalem, they need to do what Collingwood did and give some mature age players a lifeline.
Collingwood's recruiting has been better than anyone's over the past few years, sometimes you bang a few pigs to get to a princess but the proof is in the pudding now with some players that have returned the faith.

Adams
Aish
Crisp
Dunn
Greenwood
Hoskin-Elliott
Howe
Mayne
Treloar
Varcoe
Wells

A bit hit and miss, some inconsistency and injuries but overall they've been up and about and are probably the 2nd best side atm.

If Carlton could follow a similar plan they could at least get off the bottom for now and let there young lads develop naturally instead of continually being thrown in the deep end.

We tried that avenue with Malthouse and stuffed that up as well.
We need to land some big players via FA or RFA.
Problem is no one wants to come to Carlton whilst we are shit.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Cripps is worth half the salary cap alone

McGovern the other half?

Been very disappointing this season Charlie .. Appears to have all the ability in the world so you wouldn't be worried about the future, but he needs to pull his finger out.

Carlton do have a spine to work around. Need some big body midfielders, small forwards, small defenders, medium defenders and they will be set.

I think McGovern playing forward may have hindered his progress.
There’s room for both plus McKay as well though.

For the current rebuild timeframe the Blues closest neighbour was probably Brisbane, note past tense!

After 10 wins in 2013 (12th place) and 7 wins in 2014 (15th place), the Lions then went:

2015 - 4 wins - 17th (67.5%)
2016 - 3 wins - 17th (61.6%) * only avoided bottom due to depleted Bombers
2017 - 5 wins - 18th (74.3%)
2018 - 5 wins - 15th (89.1%)
2019 - 6 and 3 and in finals contention

Lions fans can realistically be expecting to play finals next year if not this year and contending in 2-4. These comparisons only heap more pressure on the Blues and fair enough for Blues fans to be asking WTF!
