Re: Grade Cricket
Hearing with the cricket Hubs likely in SA, all Redbacks contracted players will need to go in Hub and wont be released to play for their Grade clubs. If not picked, will have trial games against other States, bit like the AFL have been doing. Could affect some clubs more than others (ie Sturt potentially without Davis and Kelly twins, etc).

Re: Grade Cricket
If that happens would it mean that Woodville will lose, McInerney, Nielsen and Dickman?, throw in the loss of Andrews and that's their top order goneEagles2014 wrote:Hearing with the cricket Hubs likely in SA, all Redbacks contracted players will need to go in Hub and wont be released to play for their Grade clubs. It would seem the we want to strengthen PC from Hussey report is all bluster.

This is a Cricket Australia decision, so all players would be under strict Hub guidelines and rules like the AFL players. Why Port/Crows could not play in SANFL, players mixing with the "plebs"!!

Re: Grade Cricket
Might actually mean more state squad cricketers play club cricket
If the AFL is any guide they might have to select a smaller training group and spell 2nd XI altogether.
It might be that the best 14 or 15 are available none of the time and the rest of the squad are available the entire time.

Dickman was released to play finals in Darwin on weekend vs Waratah. So reckon that answers your question.Eagles2014 wrote:Yes, all those Peckers would be unavailable. The Hound wrote:If that happens would it mean that Woodville will lose, McInerney, Nielsen and Dickman?, throw in the loss of Andrews and that's their top order goneEagles2014 wrote:Hearing with the cricket Hubs likely in SA, all Redbacks contracted players will need to go in Hub and wont be released to play for their Grade clubs. Re: Grade Cricket
I only heard this story from couple of players in the system. Until the HUB scenario is finalised and CA announce all the rules, we wont know for sure. But the players have been led to believe they will need to be like the other 5 states and in a Hub, and will only get to play trial games against other players in the Hubs. So even though Dickman can go off and play in NT now, we will just have to wait and see, would not be counting on them being allowed to play Grade cricket just yet!thevoice wrote:Dickman was released to play finals in Darwin on weekend vs Waratah. Page leaves to go back to TTG and Agar potentially back to Uni - after one year?
Like Oakley left us after one year to go back to TTG as lives near there.
Players seem too keen to leave their clubs these days thinking it will be better then realise they made a huge mistake!

Re: Grade Cricket
With all due respect to Huw, don’t think that’s what Glenelg need. Have enough medium pace bowlers who bowl 100 km/hr! Be surprised with that move, Dad heavily involved at Southern being 1st Grade scorer, etc.The Hound wrote:Saw Huw Stone from Southerns training with Glenelg the other night.Eagles2014 wrote:So back to where he started??The Hound wrote:Agar left Adelaide for Uni? any truth

Speaking of the Bays, I heard around the traps that Josh Hoffman has quit cricket again? Another one who has been though all the junior programs only to pull the pin, along with the likes of Reardon, Gutschke etc. from recent times.

Re: Grade Cricket
This now been confirmed, they will name squad of 16 players to go into Hub, they then can not mix back into Grade cricket till Hubs finished. So five players who miss out on a game have to play scratch matches with left over players from other States hub players.Eagles2014 wrote:Yes, all those Peckers would be unavailable. Not sure if I have missed this but with round 1 of the Shield season starting on 10 October when will the Redbacks 15/16 man hub squad be named?

Re: Grade Cricket
I reckon Uni might be up there again this year - especially in terms of their batting.
I heard both S Kerber and Bosisto made big hundreds on the weekend in a Redbacks internal trial, which I think was a mix of the non-hub players and Emerging Redbacks and some U/19s.

Yeah there's not many stronger 1-2-3 punches around than Wakim, Bosisto, Kerber. Serious team.Minimum Chips wrote:I reckon Uni might be up there again this year - especially in terms of their batting.

Is Lehmann still on the Strikers list? If not he'll make about 2000 grade runs mind you
Is Jake Winter back playing this season?

With the season kicking off next weekend any news on recruits from various clubs:
Glenelg: Winter like a recruit, Kerr, Stone
Sturt: Wilson from Uni
Adelaide: Darling from Uni
TTG: Page, Oakley
Uni: Agar? and whoever they pick up from there junior development program
, usually get a couple of those from other clubs.
Prospect: 2 bothers Hatzoglou?
