Does make you wonder........

Why South?

Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve bailed a bloke out with debts.
I mean, there was only so much money in chicken shops & car yards back in the day...

Not sure we have ever or will ever "bail " anyone out.! Clearly Gibbs sees a future at South, with its vibrant young list mixed with a couple of experienced old hands -Cross and broadbent,, and and most importantly an exciting attacking gameplan developed by a personable and likeable coach.

Hosie an especially good pick up, given that Josh Scott won't be returning next year. Will be interesting to see if either he or Toby Pink choose to get burnt by the AFL draft again.

Heard 2 weeks ago that he (Scott) was back in Adelaide and playing. Very surprised if not at the Bays.

Scott has re-signed at Jervois

Pity. He and McBean were a great combo.

He will water down the opposition I would think.

My mail is Glenelg had a job lined up for him as well. Now whether that job was as good as what South potentially have lined up remains to be seen.

My overall view, Bryce has got himself the best deal to help him in his transition from AFL footy, We've haven't sold the kitchen sink to get him back. South have a quality player for 2021.

It can be argued that its a win:win:win for everyone.

What we lacked last year was that third tall option that Scotta provided in the finals series so it was easier for opposition to cover both McBean and Reynolds. With three tall ins (Hosie in particular) we have the ability to stretch defences and provide more scoring options
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Seems the club has gone away from that strategy in recent times or I could just be forgetting a few.

John Butcher in 2017, Elliot Kavanagh in 2016 and Bryce Retzlaff in 2014.

I know it was earlier than that (2012 maybe?) But how many seasons did Collier stick around for?

Tom Collier was at the Dogs for 5 seasons.

Started in 2012 and finished at the end of 2017.

Was an underrated player, IMHO, playing a state game for SA as well.
Yep. He was a top player. Played a state game in his first year at Centrals (i.e. would only have played about 4 or 5 SANFL games at that point).

Tom was one of the nicest blokes you could meet, as well.

A top footballer and a top bloke.

Knew you would have the answer. All were pretty decent recruits.

Not sure why we have gone away from looking at committed ex AFL list players. The country NSW tactic just hasn't seemed to cut the mustard in recent years despite proven extremely successful in the 2000's.

We all know that recruiting is tough but our current list of recruits are not giving supporters much confidence.
I'm hoping they prove me wrong ,and hoping the club have some league standard recruits signed up soon.
What happened with Holman's brother coming to the club?

I think it has still proven to be a handy recruiting ground in recent seasons, but more the club as a whole hasn't had the success, for varying reasons.

Luke Habel, Murray Stephenson, Sam Milne, James Lawton, just to name a few, have been recent Riverina recruits to be serviceable.

NORWOOD is pleased to announce the return of former junior and Geelong midfielder Jacob Kennerley for the 2021 SANFL Season.

Kennerley was drafted to Geelong in 2018 where he spent two seasons at Kardinia Park.

Despite not registering a game at AFL level, the 20-year-old was a solid contributor in the VFL side in 2019.

The elite endurance runner split his time between wing and half-back in his debut season in the VFL in 2019.

Kennerley will look to add a high work ethic and speed to the Norwood line up in 2021 with his ability to play inside or outside the midfield.

Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said we are delighted to welcome back Jacob to the football club.

“Jacob is quality person and footballer and will doubt have a significant impact on our playing group next season.

“He will inject a strong running and skill element into our line up and will be able to bring his AFL IQ to the playing group and some of our promising juniors coming through the ranks next season.

“We welcome Jacob and his family back to the Parade in 2021.”

Lost Hosie half way thru 2019 but get him and Durdin back in 2021, one positive of the mid season draft.
