Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
I think the list shows that SA football has little to none influential people. Maybe the reason the SANFL clubs are reamed yearly by the AFL.hollywood7477 wrote:Michael Doughty are u serious. Yes, I think that's the unintended point of this list, not sure those at the 'Tiser are sharp enough to join the dots.goddy11 wrote:I think the list shows that SA football has little to none influential people.
Also, did I see Max Basheer in there? He most certainly was very influential 30 years ago, but not today. Might as well bung Bob McLean, William Magarey, and John Acraman in there as well.

How many Westies games would KG attend ? He seems to lack knowledge about the SANFL and just talks in generalities like it's some sacred comp but he doesn't really know what's going on in it.

I seemed to recall he renounced his allegiance in the mid-nineties on 5AA when they sacked Kerls after his return to coaching in 1992-3.

Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
Huge off field decisions for the Double Blues next year. Major redevelopment of Jack Oatey stand has development approval but there is a funding shortfall currently. Also the council is selling off the land that the pokies bistro on Unley Road occupies so a major redevelopment can take place. So relocation of pokies now has to happen and all the difficulties that that entails in finding a new site. At least the current Board have proven to be very capable in the past of handling the issues.
Also notable that Mark Ross has departed Norwood. Redundancy officially anyway.

Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
I agree with you JK. Bloody stupid decision. Mark's football knowledge is absolutely amazing and his recruiting has brought many (now) PREMIERSHIP players to the club. Many times Mark dropped into the History Group's meetings in the old Premiership bar and I was astounded by his football knowledge. I could listen to him talk football all day. The club's decision is not going to be popular with the playing group as many players are indebted to him for them gaining premierships. Hope he doesn't go to another SANFL club because his recruiting skills and rapport with players will give that club premierships no if or buts about it.JK wrote:That’s the line they’ve run with, disgraceful decisionRonnie wrote:Also notable that Mark Ross has departed Norwood. Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
The Redlegs have had 6 years without a flag maybe the time to regig the joint.
Apart from unsuccessful coaches leaving the club who else have they let go?
As I read recently on a forum site recently only 1 flag in 32 years if you take their 3 peat 6 years ago.
Their members are probably just getting frustrated with the lack of premiership/success.
4 flags in 35 years.

Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
Not an unreasonable view but you can’t really remove 3 flags from those calculations. Mark being responsible for list management and player welfare doesn’t really include him as someone having a significant influence in our below par onfield performances unless he’s getting those aforementioned things wrong. You only have to speak to people within the industry to know our recruiting has been more than fine in the last 6 years (or scour forums for opposition fans views over that time). Refreshing the coaching aspect had already happened. Factor in paying out 1 year of a coaching contract and now a redundancy on a 10+ year employee, doesn’t sound to me like financial relief which was meant to be the point of it.VALE PARK wrote:The Redlegs have had 6 years without a flag maybe the time to regig the joint.

Re: SANFL 2021 SEASON
If you put to one side the 144 flags that have been won by SANFL clubs since 1877, then actually no-one has ever won a flag. Spooky!Spargo wrote:What a ridiculous statement.VALE PARK wrote:As I read recently on a forum site recently only 1 flag in 32 years if you take their 3 peat 6 years ago.

Yep, we're still waiting to win that elusive first ever flag,
if you don't include the 9 we won from 2000 to 2010
