When life gives you lemons, slice one up and throw it in a gin with some soda water and ice.

After receiving some alarming news from my doctor I went on an immediate health kick, got rid of everything bad in my life and replaced it with healthy food, running daily and going to the gym each morning. I've knocked 20 minutes off of my 7km circuit time and now 8.4kgs off my weight.

Best thing is, I feel the best I have in 20+ years.

In a strange kinda way, I'm running more and walking less of my journey, the first 3.5km's is all uphill up Prospect Road, bloody hard work.

Just on that, I was running down Churchill Road yesterday and there was a couple coming the other way both pushing prams, I went to veer to the side of the footpath to give them room and there was some raised pavers caused by tree roots that I didn't notice and went arse up forward and landed just in front of them.

I pretended nothing happened and said "Neither of you saw that hey?" As I started running again.

Took a fair bit of bark off my elbow, my knee, hand and phone all copped it too.

My two daughters, son and I have penciled in tackling the Fort Largs Snake Pit a couple of times next week followed by beach runs to Semaphore, good family activities.

For the 1st time I can ever remember we are not leaving our house on xmas day, it means we are hosting 30+ people which is taking a huge amount of prep but it will be worth it come Friday.

I'll be just fine, the gym will be empty, so will the beach.

We have our family shindig on Boxing Day so I told my kids to go spend Christmas Day lunch with their mum and partners family and save Boxing Day for me and my family.

3.5 hours until 2020 can get in the bin
leave until the 18th...negotiations with the boss on that one was easy. "I'm either on leave until the 18th, or on leave permanently".
