COVID
I think this needs to be raised again on its own thread,
Surely with the current situation in Victoria, & the rest of the country for that matter, the AFL would be foolish to proceed full steam ahead with a new season, without planning for border closures, & therefore SURELY the SANFL would make it 100% clear that THEY don't want any disruptions to their state-based competition?
This would mean another season where the 2 AFL sides would pull out of the SANFL. Again.

Rubbery contract for sure. There would always be a get out and get clause massively favoring the AFL teams. Our leaders are just puppets.

Our "leaders", what a crock of shite.
Boot them out too, tell the AFL to bugger off,
all SANFL clubs seem to have done alright last season without the intervention of the AFL reserves.

I'm going to book in to Tom's Court Hotel for a week.
Then I'm going on a tour of greater Melbourne. Might even spend a day in Geelong for good measure. I'll be leaving my contact details at every AFL club.
Expect another 8-team pure SANFL competition to be announced shortly thereafter. You're welcome.

Re: COVID
Ridiculous that the SANFL even think the 10-team comp will be absolutely fine to go ahead this year, although nothing surprises me with those in charge of the SANFL any more.

Re: COVID
If the interlopers are going to pull out*, it needs to happen before the SANFL season commences.
If the comp starts with ten teams, it has to finish with ten teams.

Re: COVID
The SANFL will be walking on eggshells all season. Once the Vic clubs have restrictions , they will impose those onto the Adelaide clubs. We need guarantees from the AFL before allowing the 2 clubs to play.

Re: COVID
surely they handle it better and differently this year from the AFL clubs perspective.
Have a squad of 28 or so that are AFL only, the rest are SANFL even if there is no restrictions then when the restrictions do hit there is no need for them to pull out of the SANFL. They are only 14 days away from making any adjustments to that 28.
Sucks for the 6 that dont play but thats the cost
woukld be great to see them both get flogged all season in the SANFL

Last season showed we dont need either of them in the competition so we dont need to make compromises for them to play

They only USE the sanfl comp as practice for their over paid players anyway. The comp doesn't need them. Let them play each other every week for practice and not compromise our competition. But of course the sanfl commission are too fefing weak to do that

Was the Sanfl's profitability and popularity improved in 2020 over 2019?

Re: COVID
First part. Yes. All clubs made a surplus.
Second part. It was very popular that neither Port or Adelaide took part.
Third part. If we never saw either sides sorry arse ever again that would be alright by me.
