I’m not sure that anyone is but gee we have some slim pickings if we are adamant on playing two.

IMO

1st test side will be

Warner
khawaja
Labaschange
Smith
Head
Green
Carey
Agar (Zampa alternate 2nd spinner)
Cummins
Lyon
Hazelwood (selectors will have liked his reverse swing on day 5/Starc to pmay 2nd test for the rough outside the RHBs)

As Booney says in Head Smith and Labaschagne we have enough back up spin options if the main spinners are picked.

Green to play because of the back to back tests nature of modern tours your need to have the bowling options to minimise fatigue plus at 140 km + he is a good bowling alternate option
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Looking unlikely that either Starc or Green will be fit for Nagpur.

I'd take Kuhnemann over Agar.

When we all agree. TDK will post it on here tomorrow and then the MSM will pick it up.

2 spots to fill. I would think a specialist bat and another spinning option. If it is Agar, he will shift up to 8 in the order. I don't think 3 quicks will play, especially in Nagpur.

Warner
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
?
Carey
Cummins
Lyon
Hazelwood
?

Maybe the same team as in Sydney.

Yeah maybe, but I am reluctant to play 5 LH in the top 7 against Ashwin.

Are you not aware of the fact that Green is unlikely to play in the first test because of his broken finger?

We have to check with Booney if we're allowed to take Zampa first. :)

Jaspit Bumrah is set to miss majority of the Test series against Australia as he will need at least another month of rehabilitation for stiffness in his right glute. Bumrah was on his way back into the India ODI side having recovered from the back injury he suffered prior to the 2022 T20 World Cup when he sustained this new injury.

Bumrah had cleared a match simulation test at the NCA in Bengaluru, but experienced discomfort on the second day of building up to higher workloads in Mumbai. If everything goes right in his rehabilitation, Bumrah can be in contention for the second half of the Test series against Australia.

I was aware of Starc but not fully aware of Green, knew he was doubtful but more of a chance than Starc.

That probably guarantees Agar a gig in the first test and the consider another bowling option unless they take Hardie in the squad (who arguably should have been added to the last test side for team balance (playing an allrounder))

Pretty huge news, with Pant also missing Australia getting some good news. Pants out is massive as he has saved them numerous times of late. Is Jadeja meant to be back?

To me this is a great chance for Australia, India since they won here haven't been great other then beating an England side at home that was completely useless.

No Pant and potentially Bumrah is huge indeed, obviously handy for Australia.

I read Jadeja is still recovering from knee surgery after injuring himself during the Asia Cup and his return is unknown.

I just refuse to believe that Boland won’t be on the plane to India even as just a precaution. This is a bloke who is one of the all time leading SS wicket takers despite playing the bulk of his career on a low, flat and lifeless road at the MCG.
