Fantastic result.
Not bad for a team with 3 number 11 bats.
That aged so well.
Is Robinson the most hated man in the English team?
Must be something in the surname.

Went to bed at 10 when it was about to kick off thinking it would go on for longer than I'd be able to stay awake, got up just after 2 for a leak and stayed up to the end. Australia, you f*cking beauty!

I think Stokes's days are up
And the pork pie-eating keeper.

This loss might demoralise the poms,
could be a 5 nil drubbing on the cards.

Anderson with a 1/100 ish may have him struggling to keep his place also.
They'll keep him in though hoping he'll find his rythym in the second test.
Bazball v ozball hasn't worked out for them this test so it'll be interesting to see if there's any change to their second innings batting strategy.

A lot of dropped catches didn’t help.

To win with no contribution from Smith or Marnus is big.

Well that was good news to wake up to. Certainly didn't expect them to do it after Head got out. Those chases on Day 5 - in gloomy conditions - are hard to do. Hopefully the gentlemen in the Hollies stand enjoyed that one.

Wood comes in for Ali and dare I say it Woakes comes in for Jimmy to sure up the batting a bit also. If its a green seamer then keep Jimmy but I think Lords will be flat.

I disagree about bazball not working, sure there is a few average looking dismissals but we win this test with a better keeper. We can not beat you playing the same as you because your simply a better team. If you look at each teams 11 we might win 3 out of the 11 spots. There is a reason we won 1 out of 17 tests prior to stokes taking over playing the Australian style.

Also Robinson is the most dislikeable English player in a long time, I canr even stand him.

Wow.
They are some huge balls Cummins has.
When Carey got out, 8 down, 55 needed and 20 overs left I thought we'd play out for a draw. But the way he attacked without doing anything reckless was an awesome effort and nerves of steel.

Bazball v the Aussies way? Either way, in the end quality will win out, which we saw with Root and Khawaja's batting and Lyon's bowling.

I was lucky enough to wake up when we needed 15. So good to watch. Seeing Gaz play that attacking shot over mid on cover area was awesome

They were in a position where they shouldn't have lost,
they won the toss, on home soil & made 400 on the first day,
then we were chasing 280 on the last day,
then we were 8 for & we should have lost.
They'll be gutted.

Amazing Test Match and win for the Aussies.

There's some things the that Poms should like about Bazball but the thing that could work against them is the amount of time that they keep the opposition bowlers in the field.

In a congested series of back to back tests, the Poms have already bowled 64.2 overs more than the Aussies - if that continues it will begin to takes its toll across successive tests - or they'll have to rotate bowlers hard, and i'm not sure they've got the bowling depth to back that option.

I do think the Poms had the best of both the batting and bowling conditions

Ashes 2023

Post by Jim05 »

Love him or hate him you have to admire Broad for always wanting the ball in his hand. Compare that to old pea heart Jimmy who with the game on the line and a new rock he squibbed it and handed the responsibility over to a park trundler.
Weak as piss
5 of our top 6 batters did stuff all and we still won, once they click we will brain these hacks
