If nothing was said in the media who would even know about it? There was about 20 people there. People getting offended on behalf of others is the problem here, its just words, who did it hurt?

If the media have no ammunition they cant "get" him.
More importantly as a coach he ahs to set standards especially with respect to his players that as elite athletes you have to stay focussed on what you can control. With the your group he has to even more conscious of the standards he sets unlike when he was coaching hawthorn with a bunch of seasoned Pros.
