Any of the punters on this site want to give odds on any of the drafted players get an AFL game this year?

One thing that annoyed me last night was the commentators saying "this kid is a good long term prospect and probably won't play this year"....isn't the whole purpose of the mid season draft to get readymade players who can have an impact now? If they are long term prospects then grab them at the end of the year

Spot on, at the very least they should guarantee a minimum 18 month contract so they can have a good run of staying on the list.

Agreed, minimum contract term of 18 months and minimum contract value of "x" dollars (a reasonable amount), to make their drafting decision cost something.

Each player who nominates for the mid-season rookie draft must specify their terms by nominating as:
A Category 1 player can nominate specific contract terms regarding duration and remuneration. This applies only to previously listed players and the contract term cannot be less than 18 months. Any player who nominates these terms must be remunerated to those terms and this cannot be varied for the length of the nominated contract.
A short-term contract which finishes at the end of the current AFL season.
A longer-term contract which finishes at the end of the next AFL season.
A player cannot be offered a contract that reflects a shorter term than the period that they have nominated.

Understand that and players go in with eyes wide open, however 18 month must be made the minimum

How does anyone explain North's form so far this year, They have been highly competitive with the three current premiership favourites, but have performer poorly against the next three sides. North defeated Sturt by 6 points, lost to Norwood by 8 points (and many good judges thought they should have won) and lost to Glenelg by 12 points. Yet North lost by 92 points to the Eagles, 29 points to Central and 32 points to West.
Like other clubs North have had a bad run with injuries, but that doesn't explain their erratic form.

Injuries are going to play an important factor in separating the top 5 teams.

I have been following them for 65 years and they have always been the same. I recall in 1971 when they only lost 4 games for the year, they defeated reigning premier, Sturt and the very next week lost to Woodville..who went on to win the wooden spoon.

When was the last time Port Adelaide went through a season winless?
Would be a fitting send off, a reminder of how mediocre the club that exists to win premierships has become in the last quarter of a century.

I see Charles Sturt Council approved the redevelopment for Footy Park and transfer of the lease to the SANFL.

Means SANFL can build a training base for their development programs and the Crows can move to Thebby.

Only got up by 1 vote but a majority of the council area were in favour of it with only the immediate precinct around Footy Pk slightly against.
All of the council area was encouraged to give feedback of which I did in the positive.
