Re: Black listed companies
They tend to be ok for overseas hotels but too many tales similar to the above in Australia for some reason so yes on the banned list already

Re: Black listed companies
For a lark, I googled "worst accommodation in Adelaide".
Jackson's Motor Inn was the first hit.

A friend with a badge is familiar with the establishment. Visits clients there often.

2 weeks on. No sign off a refund. Spent another 45 minutes on the phone with Booking.comCorona Man wrote:I don't expect many on the forum would have the need to book a hotel room all that often in Adelaide..... Here is my tale of woe, from last weekends trip back to Radelaide..
I usually book accom through Wotif, or direct with hotel. Not sure why, but this time I went through Booking.com. That was a mistake.
All that was left when I booked (long weekend) was the Jacksons Motor Inn on GO Road. Booking made for Sat March 8th, checking out Sunday March 9th. 1 room - $142 for the night.
Flew into Adealide early Sat am, went to visit older Brother in RAH, who slept the entire time I was there... I digress. Then up the hill to watch the lads cricket. A few post game beers, onto a pub in Mt Barker to catch up with a few old mates. Dinner & back down the hill, arrive at said accommodation at 9.30pm.
Reception closed, call after hours number, hi (my name) I have a reservation for tonight..... silence on the other end of the phone..... Hello, do you have a room for me please? "No, no room for you. Your wife called to say you flight was cancelled". At this stage I did loose a bit of my shit.
My wife doesn't even know where I am staying (not that it was a secret) so how can she have called you? - Now you are just making shit up was my further comment. Clearly my flight was not cancelled, as I am standing in front of your ******* reception area...... "You book through Agoda"? No I booked through Booking.com.
So these **** tards, have cancelled my reservation, without notice, or refund.... that's totally unacceptable. Then they try to pass it off as someone else's problem.
Fortunately my Niece had a couch I could crash on for the night....
In trying to get a refund, the hotel said I have to call Booking.com to arrange this. Thanks for nothing you cock heads.
Not sure what to do now...

If you paid by CC then initiate a chargeback for services not provided.Corona Man wrote:2 weeks on. No sign off a refund. Re: Black listed companies
Not that I have, or would ever use them … Metropolitan Plumbing and any of their 5 million associated companies.
Whilst their behaviour is disgusting and appalling, I’m not sure that overcharging is a formal crime.
Buyer beware and just get more than one quote.

Pretty sure it is a crime to over charge. Anyway Metropolitan and Jims Plumbing are both black listed .

Not a criminal offence, but will attract the notice of consumer affairs and if big enough, the ACCC for deceptive and/or unfair conduct.MW wrote:Pretty sure it is a crime to over charge. Anyway Metropolitan and Jims Plumbing are both black listed .

Re: Black listed companies
I got Jim's Plumbing in as the 3rd of three to quote for a replacement hot water unit. They promised a really quick turnaround.
Printed out this fancy quote, but the poor bugger's face dropped when I said he's about $3K higher than the other two. Quoted me just under $5K, I ended up paying $1400 to another bloke to do the job.
