Re: INS & OUTS 2026
The Central District Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Norwood wingman, Jack Saunders.
Saunders, 23, stands at 181cm and spent two years at the Hawthorn Football Club after being selected as a rookie in 2021. While he made just one AFL appearance, he impressed at VFL level before returning to his home club, Norwood, following his delisting at the end of 2023.
Injuries to his neck and ankle sidelined him for 399 days across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but the talented wingman is now fit and ready for a fresh start at Elizabeth.
A hard-running, creative, and reliable player who can also feature across half-back or through the midfield, Saunders will bolster our ability to connect play between the arcs and into attack.
Football Manager Mark Ross said he was thrilled to bring Jack to the Club:
“I was fortunate to be at Norwood watching Jack as he progressed through the underage programs, and I was delighted when he got his opportunity at Hawthorn. I’ve always been a big fan of how he conducts himself both on and off the field.
We see Jack’s ability to run and consistently put himself in positions to be used by his teammates as something that will really benefit our team. Unfortunately, he’s had some ordinary luck with injuries, but we’re hopeful that a change of environment will bring a change of fortune.”
We warmly welcome Jack and his family to the Ponderosa.

Although McLean has retired it’s good to see him staying around the club and taking on the U16’s coaching gig

If we get Harry back I reckon that’s about it for our recruiting mateJim05 wrote:I would hope that we improve enough to at least give you a decent run. Boyd will obviously be the key to that but haven’t looked to have lost anyone of any real note yet and with the addition of Dittmar plus a few other recruits that should be very handy in this comp it should make things interesting I’d hope.pmackk wrote:Anyone going to challenge us next season i can only see us getting better few back from injuries a few good recruits can’t see us dropping much at all.
Glenelg will still also be thereabouts I’d assume and who knows how well the others recruit

Given the SANFL demands on players is very heavy, I can see why he would head that way.CENTURION wrote:Burgess, like many others these days, is heading to the ammos.BoomBabyDagger wrote:Big step forward if Westies can get Francis, Lemmey and Burgess. Give Bassett something to work with.
