If you kill them they’ll never know they’re a martyr, they’re dead.dedja wrote:Always a contentious one.Brodlach wrote:Amount of money being wasted to get him trial is just stupidity IMO
Do you eliminate those who commit heinous crimes at the time, or allow them to survive to have the full weight of the Law applied against them?
Kill them in the act and they achieve their desire to be a martyr, to be used by others to further seed their ‘movement’ … or lock them up for eternity for a remaining life of misery … or invoke the ultimate penalty of capital punishment. (Refer back to the first one).
Pity von Einem has died, we could have put him in the same cell as von Einem with some medical instruments and a bottle or 2.
Save the money, use the funds help the victims and families

Make him dress like an Orthodox Jew for the rest of his miserable life … wear a kippah and pe’ot sidelocks, and post a video of him burning the ISIS flag.

While I appreciate your frankness, I personally can't agree with much of what you've written at all.CENTURION wrote:I think banning those huge pro-palestinian marches could be a good step in the right direction,

Firstly, what you're proposing would essentially be an end to free speech and assembly in this country. I support these freedoms - which means that I also support them for those with whom I disagree totally.
Australians should be able to protest (safely and peacefully of course) about any issue they believe in. This is what happens in a liberal democracy.
Numbskulls with ISIS flags or who advocate gasing the Jews etc. should be held to account for their actions. Bear in mind however, that this amounts to a tiny portion of people.
For instance, NSW Police estimated 90,000 people were in attendance at the most recent Harbour Bridge protest. Do you propose all those people being thrown in gaol? Most are ordinary people. I'm sure you'll find many on this forum who share their cause. Remember, and this cannot be stressed enough, support for Palestinians does not mean support for Hamas or ISIS.
I'm sure that you would have found a (very small) number of extremists (e.g. neo-Nazis) at some of the recent marches in Adelaide associated with the right-wing.
There are various factual assertions which I question as well, such as Palestinians not being aware of support they have received from the international community.
What you are proposing is totally contrary to Australian values, in my view, is hardly likely to work (and indeed I'm not sure that banning protests changes the minds of any would-be-protestors - quite the opposite I suspect), and is the sort of thing I associate with the Soviet Union or North Korea.

I didn't say anything about changing his mindset - I didn't even oppose use of the death penalty - but it's an important part of the justice system in my view that the relatives of victims are part of the court process, if they so choose - à la the Christchurch massacre.gadj1976 wrote:yep.. that will change his mindset for sureRB wrote:I'd rather he's forced to sit through victim impact statements in court, first.Brodlach wrote:Just. Re: What The F***
Do we need the typical lengthy expensive torturous complicated court process to be used for Naveed Akram?
Should be a case of a judge asks him in court to look at the big tv screen.
Show the footage of the Bondi events and ask him if it is him in the footage with guns shooting people.
If he answers YES - see you later pal and you'll never see the free world or your family again just like the deceased victims.
If he answers NO - ask him who it is then
He may answer that he was a terrible shot and that his Dad shot all 15.
He will still be locked up for life for all the other charges.
No sensible lawyer should even attempt to defend this guy and mount a case for him.
Not even the SA Parole Board would let this guy out...ever...
