There is nothing at all that I can do except just be there for him and offer coping mechanisims, separation anxiety is terrible as a young lad, I wasn't great with it but obviously as you get older you just become more resilient.

On a positive note, after the first week he decided to do some research and got himself a "self-help" book, there have been some changes that we don't go into but he has done a big clean out of his room, he has been practicing a lot on the ukelele and has been getting into podcasts of great ex-footballers.

Junior broke up last May after nearly 4 years and moved back home. His call.

Miss broke up last September after just over 3 years and moved back home. Her call.

Got a 29 and 25 year old back home.

It's hard to watch on.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Bloody oath, makes it harder knowing I could probably call an intervention and help them sort their issues but I think it's for the best as they are on different paths at the moment.

Best of luck to both of you, I've got kids in their 20's too and it's tough going sometimes, especially when they pick a good one and things get tough.

Hardest part was watching her make a bad decision, in our eyes ( Mrs Boon ) and it was heartening to see him make a good decision ( in our eyes ) but they both went through some tough times because of it. Either way all you can do is be there when they need you.

My boys went through it last year too

Oldest after 6 years from high school

Youngest after 4 years also from high school

Both were my lads choices and ultimately for the better however my wife and I both miss the two girls, they did become part of our family.

Both have new partners and both are great, one has been around for over 12 months and we treat her like one of our kids. Other is a new relationship and we’ll see how that goes.

All you can do is be there for them during the tough moments of being alone and open your home to anyone new.

Yep, I was very close to his GF, she would often send messages of appreciation and for a very quiet shy girl she'd rattle her gums away fr ages when she was over or we were out, I do and will miss her but I know they need this to find themselves or to work out if there was enough there.

I'm so proud of him for ackowledging that he needed help and getting a book to give him tips to keep his mind occupied.

He's seen me go through 3 breakups and thinks I'm bulletproof, I'm not, I just keep my pain on the inside and focus on the reasons why to stay apart.

Absolutely, I appreciate the feedback, I'm hurting seeing my son hurt, I had two hours sleep Sunday night and the same last night, I've been awake since 2AM and feel like absolute shit.

My daughter rings me every day at 4:35pm for her journey home from work and now the lad has started doing it on his way to work in the morning.

I too was close to one, her parents were morons so we use to talk and I’d give her decent advice. She was devastated.

We are lucky to have kids that want us in their lives. It’s my greatest gift I could be given
