Will be interesting to see the midfield battle at cove on a perfect condition day. As we know the game is won out of the square in what they call an oval

That oval is the reason there should be a minimum playing size in local football. Was too small for U14 kids.

Get a wet and windy day there and it's the ultimate lottery.

Reynella make a statement with a six goal win over Valleys, Delahunty with 9 goals!

Elsewhere, Cove get up in a close one over Saints, Portie$ & Flaggies games go as expected (FH ordinary for 3 quarters though), and Ironbank get the win against the bye.

Massive statement by the Reynella Football Club, I honestly thought Valley by 10 + to make a statement of their own, I was a mile off.

I though Valleys would win, not by 10 goals but easily enough. It'll be interesting to see how they respond against Portie$ this week.

Ok Rd 3,
Porties v Valley - I expect Valleys to bounce back if they are as good as I first thought.
Ironbank v Flagstaff - Flagstaff to win but I watched them twice, and they will not be a contender come September
Aldinga v M-Vale - Flip a coin, M-Vale just.
C-Beach v Reynella - Reynella by 40 +
Cove - Bye

Vikings had the response and the cockledivers look off it this season. Saints had a good day against the wineflies even if they lost

I'm not sure what Ironbank bring to the SFL, what's the point?

No U13s, no U15s, 7 listed players in the U17s and the A grade give up 50+ scoring shots, and don't even score a goal on their postage stamp.

The only time the club in general showed a bit of fight was in the 3rd quarter in the Bs, when an umpiring performance worthy of The Benny Hill Show got them into the contest.

If you only have seniors, go play in the AdelFL.

One good quarter against Aldinga and were ordinary first up against Cove. Impressive on the weekend though, they're hard to get a handle on.

Hard to believe a side with Pickhaver-Tupe, Watson, Poikonia & Beinke could put up a performance like that.
I know Smith & Powell are handy too and Muirden & Morgan have been in the past.
Spending 2 points on the likes of Zac Town isn't that smart but I guess that means there was no one else?

Its a tough time for the club and unfortunately this was always on the cards with the lack of Juniors coming through the last 5 years or so. Have lost some good young local players unfortunately over the past year which hasnt helped. Alot of good people are back at the club trying to help it get back up from a Juniors point but will take some time to get going. I can understand why people would say we dont bring alot and its always a question whether we are just a div 2 hills club or even amateurs considering not that far removed from the city. Always thought its kinda remarkable Ironbank has sides considering the township and being in between big towns. Plenty of great people there so hopefully it can survive this tough period.

That all makes sense and definitely wish the club the best.
They were certainly very strong for quite awhile there and seemed to get an overflow from the Blackwoods of the world but no one appreciates more than myself that it's a different world in community football now and it will only get more so that way given that less kids are taking up the game across the board.
Only thing that can be said i guess is that the likes of Ben Marsh, the Bryars', etc were only there in the first place because of the merger with Bridgewater/Callington and once that was dissolved, it was inevitable that their tenure at the club wasn't going to be a long one, especially with Bridgewater, to their credit, making it back to full sides of senior football in 2026, after a 3 year recess

Pretty easy round for the tipsters in R4. Weather may keep margins down though.

Flaggies over Emus - be a watch on the margin here
Vikings over Thunder - as above, Ironbank were horrendous last week
Diver$ over Beach - be good to see the Saints really take it up to Portie$, it's important to follow up a good game with another great effort
Winies over Cobras - think this one could be closest, especially if it gets really wet & windy at the postage stamp

R4 results go as expected, but the margins were surprising in 3 of the 4 games.

Reynella with a huge win over Cove, Wineflies look to be early faves for the flag, Delahunty proving an excellent pick up.
Diver$ over Saints by 16 points. Haven't seen either side yet so not sure what to make of it, other than a good result for the improving Beach.
Probably the surprise of the round was the Vikings over the Thunder by 44 points. Yes, it was wet, but conditions weren't that bad, I thought Valley would win by 100+ even in the rain.
Margin flattered the Emus against the Falcons, a dry day and it's easily 150+. 2 scoring shots for each of their senior grades means a lot of work is still ahead of the rebuilding red & blacks.

M/Vale and Aldinga surprising good in their juniors this year? Looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel

Aldinga have been building for a while, as the area continues to grow they should definitely cash in.

Watched a bit of the Emus U17s, there's some good kids there. Hopefully they move up to seniors in the next year or two
