Nope.

A hint, or two: he lives here in the Riverland. His last name is the same as the emblem of a rival team.

Ah, so that's Cormac McCarthy.

Take a stab at the book: The Road (I know of no others aside from No Country that are as recent as the prize would require).

Is the Pulitzer prize for fiction really worth anything? Isn't it only for American authors who write about American culture?

correct
I quite enjoyed The Road, apparently it will be made into a movie and it will be directed by John Hillcoat who also did The Proposition and Ghosts of the Civil Dead, if you havent seen Ghosts of the Civil Dead, do yourself a favour, a gritty violent prison movie, Nick Cave helped write it, anyway I digress

Haven't read it yet, but intend to at some point (the to do list is quite long when it comes to books, unfortunately).

Which 1972 film opened with the line "I believe in America"?

DW, I have a feeling that one was Monty Noble. Could Warwick Armstrong have been the other?

Assuming I am now right (which I think I finally am) will pose this question which I hope is timely with the A Grade Grand Final coming up this weekend:

Which batsmen scored a double century in an A Grade Grand Final only to see his team still somehow lose the match?
