Who would you have had Uni playing ?????
No one seems to fit because Div 2 is unknown territory for Uni, I don't think anything derogatory was meant by it. In this case though, you could only pick Edwardstown because they're the only other team that has played Uni on any regular basis over the years.
Thanks FC Blacks130 obviously has some issues and doesnt understand what I was trying to say I will spell it out for u Blacks - I dont understand how Uni and Athelstone can be classed as rivals when Uni is in Div 2 for the first time and Athelstone has come from Div 3. U are obviously one of the few at Uni who doesnt have a degree

How could you possibly misconstrue my query as one of being anything other than an innocent one. Read my question again and again until it registers in you paranoia inflicted grey matter that all it says is "who would you have had Uni playing ?????" if not Athelstone. Grow up and stop letting that chip on your shoulder get in the way of common sense.
There probably is no good fit for a "rival" for Uni but the sides that come closest would be Towns and PHOS. Uni beating Towns in the 1996 GF and PHOS beating Uni in the 2002 GF. Saying that it's pretty tenuous and PHOS have played GFs vs Athelstone and SMOSH 1995 and 1996 (both losing). If you were trying to do a rivalry round my best efforts would come out as
PNU vs Athelstone (obvious) SMOSH vs SHOC (West side colleges and stems from 1st 18 games) Scotch vs Pembroke (East side colleges etc.) PHOS vs Edwardstown (More from a rivalry in the juniors and proximity) Uni vs Modbury (because there aren't any other sides and nothings perfect)
Athelstone and Uni had some pretty good battles in the late 90's when the Raggies were in div 1. Can remember being beaten in the dying moments at torrens valley. To this day , I have never played in a winning side against them.

Yep...first year at the Raggies. Came to the club from Para Hills with new coach at the time Neil Rawlings. Pag would probably also point out that Grossy played juniors at Salisbury.

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Modbury beat Gawler Districts by 15 goals in the b's and 12 goals in the A's
Modbury without Vassal, Gunning and Garfoot. Vanderveld (young kid) is one to watch this year for the hawks he kicks very straight and only bloke under 6 foot that i have seen that can kick over 60-70 metres accurately.
Modbury play TTG this Saturday should be a good game. I Heard that Gullies got beaten easy and may be fighting to stay up they have lost vertachudes, wicks and dawson and recruited nothing to replace.
Also Uni lost to Gepps and the word on here is that they are unbeatable this year?? did anyone see the game and can comment players out etc for UNI???

Uni kicked 1.22. Not many teams will win any sort of game kicking like that, so don't take too much out of the fact they lost.
And on Vanderveld, I played some 17s footy against him and was a good player back then, was only a matter of time before he came good at senior level.

PHOS beat Portland by 11 goals in the A grade. Scores were level at 1/2 time, PHOS clicked up a gear in the second half. Both sides missing key personnel, so probably a fair result.
