Good to see North still at it and adding another tall - albeit this player not high profile but has played league football at West Adelaide.
Shane Schubert (originally from the Riverland); son of Rick Schubert who played with North between the years 1972 to 1975.
Rick played 46 games for the Roosters during his stay at Prospect and was a member of the 1972 Premiership and 1972 Champions of Australia teams.
Info from Barrie Robran on the NAFC official site lists him as already playing League football for West Adelaide and standing at "6 ft. 4'' tall with considerable mobility.
That should keep the West fans and old Doug happy that we have snared 2 from West this year - makes a change getting players from other clubs besides Centrals!

Luke Toia
Surprise Surprise - Toia departs North - Where will he try this time ?- Westies need a few more scrubbers for 2006. Perhaps some other Eagles rejects could join him, namely Crowell, Allison. Toia - over rated and only capable of palying half a game. Gets on well with Ron Fuller though.

Exciting pick-ups, drebin, a near 30 year old who we suspended and a player who played one game for West and whose highlight was to finish 5th in our Reserves B & F 5 years ago. North were the oldest team in the league last year and Howard should help maintain that

Let's see if the WWTFC can do a better job this year at recruiting (we didn't recruit for 2005 as it was wrongly assumed the group we had in 2004 would be good enough) than they did for 2004 - Toia what a momumental stuff up - no wonder a was left for the Eagles to pick up. Every other club had done their homework, still NA picked him up when he had disclosed form with the Eagles!!!!!!!!!
A club that doesn't recruit is a dying club.

Ferret don't forget that aside from the Toia debacle we have a fairly good strike rate when we recruit. A few years ago we snared Powell, Treeby, Ellis and Inkster none of whom were high profile ex-AFL recruits like you see other clubs recruit. In another year we got Passador . True we stuffed up last year by not trying to improve our list but I thought we definitely were a better side than in 2004. What we have to address has been the deficiencies that have sunk us in the finals series. That is a poor performing forward line and a midfield that can stand up to pressure. We need to recruit players to fill these gaps

Mr Fuller - Agree with you about Powell, Inkster and Passador, also P.Lindsay can be added, but Ellis only played one good game for the club in 2005. Consistently missing through injuries during his years at the Eagles. Treeby is just plain inconsistent at his best he could cut the opposition to pieces but this is all too rare.

All Arrivals And Departures For 2006
Hey Y'all...
I am a mad Bulldog, yet I live in a respectable suburb...irony, perhaps?
I have some disturbing pieces of information, both from myself and from supporters from other clubs. Like me, they are closer to those clubs than many people think. We are players, members, cheerleaders and cheer squad members.
However, I digress from my point.
I heard this on the grapevine:
a) If Paul Thomas doesn't cut it at Windy Hill...Centrals is NOT his SANFL club of choice. My sources tell me that SOUTH is his preferred destination. Apparently, a lot of it has to do with an ongoing feud between himself and coach Roy Laird, as well as a few players from the senior playing list.
b) Damian Cupido is set to become a TIGER.
c) West Adelaide has recently suffered damaging graffiti attacks to it's 'beloved', dump-like home ground, Broadspectrum Oval. My sources tell me that the finger has been pointed at its junior players. In other 'Blood News', excavation is set to begin at Broadspectrum in the hunt for the Beaumont children.
And finally;
d) Port Adelaide is set to snare another big-name, ex-AFL player. My sources tell me that this player is a rugged key backman-type.
Stay tuned for further news.

I have good news for you, LBJ23...Cupido has been targeted by the Bays...a definite step in the right direction for an underachieving club....
Thanks for the Morrison tip, I'll run that over with my Alberton connections.
I have some news from the premiership-impaired at the Eagles...another boost in playing stocks could well see a 'retired' ex-Magpie defender being swooped (pardon the pun) to Woodville. The player in question is currently playing Amatuer League footy.
Stay tuned for more news as it comes to hand,
CLB.
