Has Ellis told you about the time he fielded for NSW?

When he was playing grade cricket. Elizabeth were playing on no 2; with SA v NSW on no 1.
NSW needed a subfielder, Darren was the only bloke out already so was seconded to the job.
From memory, he also took a catch, possibly Hookesey.

This is all working from memory, I'm sure he could confirm the exact story.

Looking to play at a Div 1 Club next cricket season????

Looking for a change and an opportunity to play at a very competitive level??

We are a SACCA Div 1 Club and are looking to recruit some new players for season 2009/2010!

We are now newly sponsored by North Adelaide pub who supply us generously each week during the cricket season. Our club has a great mix of players and a great, fun social atmosphere with players, g/f’s, partners and families.

So, if you have been stuck playing in a lower division in another competition and looking to get recognised and want to play in a Division 1 team, send me a message and we can go from there.

Pretty close, it was park 25 and I was set to go, being number 11, Darren got out and got the nod, would've been a fair buzz, we we're only 16 or just turned 17 at the time.

I think Leo has it in the bag. Unfortunately we wont know who else gets votes or how close it is cos the association doesnt release the results. His innings this game was vital and his bowling all day was really tight. I can see him doing the same this week against virginia and they will go after his bowling - so he should get plenty of wickets with the right field.

I had a chat to him bout this a few years back and lightning is right that he was only 17 or so and he said he was scared shitless that he couldnt enjoy it for what it was and he didnt take a catch but did misfield one in front of the hill and got the bronx cheer the next one he fielded ,a raspberry from the hill what a special moment ,that day sa made over 400 for the day hookes and scuderi big hundreds
he told the story of how he was walking back to his position at deep long on when with back turned he heard the crack of the bat he thought oh shit i hope thats not coming to me how embarrasing not even watchin but what had happened was greg matthews was bowling practice balls to the keeper on the next wicket over and hookesy walked over and belted it for six and told matthews he cant do that funny stuff

He even had the cheek to address it as if it was from the Two Wells Captain thanking the association for the hot weather policy to put them through to the final, not sure what he was thinking as his email address came up with (s.hunter) as it was sent to PDCA!

Its been and gone, why keep bringing it up??

The heat didnt help again this year as the lodge had Atco that week and I think TW had Virginia which would have made the ladder entirely different. Who did Sandy have that weekend? No excuses, trust me! Just thought i'd mention it ;)

Good luck to the teams remainaing.

Just for your information we missed oth that weekend not that it should concern u !
Why didnt you answer your phone saturday night instead of handing it to sib?

Had a feeling you might know the story custardarm.
As I said, the mists of time have made the story a bit bigger than what it was. Blame my profession if you will ;)
It's a great yarn though, all the better for getting it right!
