If a cricketer goes chasing money, they are playing for the wrong reasons. If you look at the time spent training and playing and convert what they receive to an hourly rate you could make more collecting cans in half the time. If you are that concerned with money get a job.
If a club offers you money treat it as a bonus, put it back through the club and enjoy the mateship which will come with it.
Mercenaries don't have too many mates at cricket clubs.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Dont all suck up Creekers arse. Im glad Stama and Jimmy didnt come to us they would be there for the wrong reasons. For you to say we are average Catchit is just funny as f***. We have won a grade 1 flag recently with the way we run things

I'm just making an observation on how you guys develop your juniors into senior ranks. Salisbury West and Brahma Lodge throw them in the A's very early and it seems to pay dividends. We used to wait til they were 17 or 18 unless there are exceptional circumstances, we have some very exciting juniors around the place atm, although we had a tough year as far as consistency and results, a short term loss is going to be a long term gain.
Will have 3 15/16 year olds that should be regulars in our A's this year along with 3 more that will be on the fringe, they wont just be there making up numbers either, they will perform. We have a few other lads under 20 who could be returning to our club to give us added depth.

LM you can ask the same question of all the top four clubs and not too many will have under 20 yo playing in the a grade. We have a large group of under 20s playing in our b grade and half a side again in our c grade, but if we didnt have depth or playing grade 2 im sure we would have more in our a grade, our junior program is several years behind westies and we will see the benefit of it in the next five years.

I don't doubt that, over the last few years I've noticed the amount of parental support has increased dramatically and from what some of them have told me, they have well structured training sessions. I know of a few talented juniors at your club who will no doubt become very handy in the next few years.
Your older junior grades had some excellent results during the past season, they just lacked consistency, it's not always the same couple of players putting their hands up.
I was by no means having a crack, I was just curious on how the progress has been going, it has been impressive.

Maybe we didnt play enough older guys and therefore that's why we missed finals!

BL had an average age of about 24 in the A grade this year. In our last game we had 5 guys under 20, and then a 21,22 and 26 year old!

I would like to think we can all only get better...

Its a bad reflection on our club that we didnt have any juniors last year though...

There is plenty of kids playing in all our teams.

Yeah, you guys went from millions to zip. You watch Eastern Park emerge as a force in the next few years, they have some really talented juniors playing A's atm.

What i mean is maybe if browny,Brett and 1 or 2 more batters made runs consistantly instead of relying on sib maybe you could win the grandfinal

That would then make 5 consistent batters, and I think your right in saying we would be good enough to win a GF!

How many consistent batters did TW or SW have?

PS - Its Rhett.. not Brett.

Virginia made the GF and they only have 2 batters, well actually 1 this year!
