Being the only bloke on staff might sound peachy keen but then the grim reality sets in as you realise you're also the only one who hasn't had a hysterectomy. God help me.

Thats funny zipzap. I did my PAR1 practicum at a school where PE was considered a dirty word. Some of the teachers there were really set in their ways, using texts and resource books from the 70s, didn't know the first thing about computers, and used drill-practice-repeat for everything they did.

I HATE teachers who think PE is just a fun thing, just to pass time, or used as a reward for the class behaving well, or just thrown in for 15 minutes before recess or lunch.

The school I was at for PAR2 last year (Para Hills Primary - Im happy to give them a plug) were brilliant. Every class did PE every day at the same time, and the activities chosen were aimed at developing the fine and gross motor skills of the students. Then on top of this, each class had their own PE lessons each week, usually 2 or 3 times a week.

I hope PE teacher have improved from the days i went to school (the 1980's), back then they were egotistical w***ers!!

The training to become a PE teacher has improved so much in recent years. You have to do PE as at least a sub-major now, which relates to about 8 different PE courses throughout your 4 years at uni.

Things that give me the shits

1. Ignorance by people on issues of importance such as climate, oil supply, water, food & land clearing.
2. Adelaides poor road structure. Melbourne's system has undergone rapid transformation in the last 10 years & we're left with the same outdated stop/start system that worked well when the city, population & lifestyle was slower.
3. Parents who neglect the development of their kids and then blame society or teachers for their lack of care factor, or who use procreation as a means of securing more government funding for their own selfish habits.
4. The lack of any government in my lifetime to have made a decent and committed effort to educating and improving the life skills and livelihoods of the "many people", which would be a step in the right direction to combatting gripe No. 3. Does anyone know of any govt. that has set out to do this?
5 Ego driven people. You only have 6 billion to contend with!!!
6 Intolerance, or a lack of acceptance, or empathy of people's differences in all shapes and sizes.
7. Parents who live out their childhood sporting aspirations through their children to the point where they spoil the spectacle.

1. The editor of the Advertiser - Mel Mansell. Incompetent twat.

2. Nicole Haack.

3. People with a shopping trolley full of groceries who queue in the express lane (and the p.ss-weak check-out chicks who don't say anything to them).

I was thinking more of jobs that communication with people is the main part of that job. Such as receptionist, librarian, shop assistant; things like that.

Getting stuck being stupid old farts in a queue somewhere when you're in a rush at lunchtime. They've got all ******* day to go there, why pick lunchtime, and then pontificate endlessly to all and sundry.

Idiots who "ring our bell" at work for service when I'm standing 2 metres away and serving another customer-generally the same old farts that have all day to waste anyway.

Truck drivers that tail-gate me down Salisbury Highway and the Portriver Expressway. Obviously speed limiters are for a MINIMUM speed rather than maximum.

Some of my relatives that always have some illness/injury to complain about. Get a life.

Excellent post. About Adelaide's road structure though..the city isn't growing..why should the state goverment pour money into the infrastructure if it is not required? I suppose the flip side is that you could develop the infrastructure to antcipate demand but any politican that asked for funds for a road that the state might or might not need in 20 years would get voted out faster than Gough Whitlam.

If you think Adelaide's road structure is bad, come to Brisbane. It has a similarly aged infrastructure but unlike Adelaide, South East Queensland is the fastest growing area in Australia.

The words "feasability study" and "consultancy". Two of the most used words of government when it comes to building new roads and replacing the trains/trams.
