Is the Pulitzer prize for fiction really worth anything? Isn't it only for American authors who write about American culture?

I quite enjoyed The Road, apparently it will be made into a movie and it will be directed by John Hillcoat who also did The Proposition and Ghosts of the Civil Dead, if you havent seen Ghosts of the Civil Dead, do yourself a favour, a gritty violent prison movie, Nick Cave helped write it, anyway I digress
