Nope. You find some cheap flights with them?

I just called my agent to find out if we can skip Bangkok due to the floods and hit up Koh Samui instead
Its going to cost an extra $4000 (the whole 15 day trip only cost $5000!) and at this stage travel insurance will not cover it
That was until I mentioned the missus is pregnant and we booked before we knew, they are now "considering" it
Fingers crossed as I dont really want her around lying stagnant water
Got the insurance approved and we are now going to Singapore for 3 nights.
The mate I was going to see in Bangkok has fled to Phuket so I would have wasted my time going there anywhere

Re: Bali/Phuket
Got back from Phuket on saturday morning and had the time of my life, stayed at the Merlin Beach resort a couple of minutes out of of Patong (which was a good decision) and was an amazing place, specially the pool bar. wet to Phi Phi island also which was a great day. Banglar road and the side alleys off it are a massive eye oppener for people like myself who have never been overseas before the wedding i went to was a great success appart from they only let me know 10 mins before the reception started that they wanted me to be the MC and after about 30 cocktails at the swim up bar during the day, leaving me in charge of a microphone for the night probably wasnt a good idea, when i get a chance i will post some photos

Honestly, I wouldn't bother getting any vaccinations. At a stretch, Hep A/B.

Go to bali on the 15th of Feb to the 25th of Feb.
Heading over with 8 mates of mine, should be a bloody blast.
Best to take Aussie cash and get it exchanged over there? Thoughts?
Last time i was in bali was when i was 16 and the second bombings occurred. Hopefully dont see that tragic stuff occur again.
Cant bloody wait!

Yes. Make sure you get your $25 USD for the entry Visa before you go. Also recommend you get a little IDR before you go, to get you a taxi, and so you can but beers before you need to find a money changer. The exchange rate is around 8300 in Australia.
Make sure you only exchange around 100 AUD at a time (this'll give you about 920 000). Do not take the IDR nor sign the exchange declaration until you have counted it back to the teller. Make sure they give you the notes flat and not doubled over.
Don't change money at the Airport.

Alot of the Kodak shops are also money exchangers. Very official and never had a problem with them, no commission either. Any place that looks a little dodgy, usually is.SJABC wrote:CoverKing wrote:Best to take Aussie cash and get it exchanged over there? Thoughts?

Nothing you can do for Aids Dogmatic, maybe use a franga.

Thanks for the late advice. Terminator told me if you don't hit the sides you are safe.

Re: Bali/Phuket
OK got back a couple of weeks ago from our first trip to Bali. For those who like the finer things in life and want to spoil yourselves rotten, The Laguna Luxury Resort and Spa at Nusa Dua. Absolutely beautiful and perfect for that quiet time, lovely food, lovely people and attention to detail. Makes these difficult days at work worth it. Highly recommended.
