Considering the year is less than a day old it's not surprising ;)

Yep, incredible catch

Grinch here … just saw it by chance. Whilst no doubt entertaining, catching outside of the rope and then landing, even without the ball, before coming back into the playing area should never be a legal catch.

But here we are.

I dont necessarily disagree but on the other side of the coin, the old days where you played to the fence, every single one of those types of catches is comfortably caught without having to throw the ball away. Is it a fair compromise?

Not in my opinion, the boundary is the boundary regardless of what is used for it.

Can a player use the fence to catapult themselves in the air to tap the ball back towards another fielder?

I just feel as though once your foot touches the ground over the boundary line then you become redundant.

It's a great spectacle and requires precision and quick reflexes and I do realise that I'm stuck in the 90's but it's just my take on it, I'm quite content to know that I'm wrong with my opinion.

On this occasion you are spot on.
Once you ground yourself beyond the boundary the next time you touch it, it should be 6.

The 6 or catch - Im not fussed either way- leave it or condone it
However its white ball cricket- fans want entertainment and the spectacular

So the way I LOOK at it, Glen Marvellouswell took a catch that is simply unbelievable

You can edge it for six these days, has to be out.

Strikers tonight, a bad loss and they could be on the bottom of the table where they belong to be!

A barrage of verbals directed at each other in the PS innings
After one of the confrontations Overton bowled the next ball to Allen who played a lofted cover driver for 6 !!!
On another occasion Jamie MANKADED Allen and let him off with a warning- that was extremely sporting considering the circumstances

AS were 8/58
Made 8/142
Doggett 47*
Boyce 29*
Brilliant partnership
Lloyd Pope did not bat

PS were 2/5
Made the target in 14.3 overs
Allen 50 [23]
Turner 35* [18]
Connelly 48* [35] was caught behind on about 4, it appears no one appealed ....
Sporting? Big Pom looked like a massive wanker.

I'm fine with the Maxwell style of catch, that is, leapt from within the field, caught it, got rid of it before landing outside the boundary, and came back into the field of play, including grounding himself within the field of play, before completing the catch.

The one I really dislike is the Neser one from a couple of seasons ago.
His second touch he was still well beyond the boundary, and simply jumped again to make sure he wasn't grounded beyond the boundary with the ball.

I think provided you have returned to the field before touching it the second (or any subsequent time) you should be fine.

To the guys saying once you go beyond the boundary then you are out of the play, what happens when you are down at fine leg, a ball is leg glanced to you, you run around, tap the ball back so it stays in play, but you slide over the boundary. At the moment, you get up, get the ball and throw it back. Under your rules, you'd be out of the play and first slip will have to run down and collect it.

For mine, if you’ve grounded before the boundary, and don’t touch the ball whilst outside the boundary, it’s fine to come back into play and retrieve the ball (in the case of stopping a 4), as long as you’re totally within the playing field when you touch the ball again.

In terms of a 6, same deal. Touch it before you’ve grounded inside the boundary, don’t touch it whilst outside the boundary, then you can come back into play and touch the ball again. If you do all that and still catch it, then congratulate yourself on a great catch.

All academic as you can touch the ball outside of the boundary as long is you’re not grounded when you do so.

100% agree with you on Neser’s ‘catch’, that was completely taking the piss.
