Re: AFL Season 2023
The news roundup on the AFL this morning makes for some interesting reading.
Tarryn Thomas accused of a lot of threats/behaviors against females. These threats/actions have been referred to the police. I can see this ending up with him missing from the team.
The investigation into the allegations against Hawthorn (racism) which were supposed to be finished by Christmas but it now seems likely to drag on well into the year. Utter incompetence. This is what happens when you appoint a lawyer, actually 4 lawyers headed by a KC instead of a trained investigator(s). This will now cost millions. Same mistakes made by ICAC's Australia wide. They will drag this out.
Hawthorn telling the investigator of the original report that he can not disclose anything from his report as they had he and all persons interviewed sign non- disclosure agreements. Whilst this is right (given that he and the others signed), the whole process becomes meaningless because of it. This begs the question that if everyone who was involved in the report as either an interviewer or interviewee was/is unable to disclose what they said or heard, was the reason to keep it from being referred ? No wonder then that some accusers would not speak to the investigator.

Re: AFL Season 2023
DARCY Moore has been appointed captain of Collingwood, continuing his family's incredible legacy at the club.
The 27-year-old's father, Peter, captained the club in 1981 and 1982, and Darcy has taken the reins from Scott Pendlebury after a club-record 206 matches.
Taylor Adams, Jeremy Howe and Brayden Maynard will form the leadership group in conjunction with Moore.

Tassie will have a the same funding reliance as GWs and GC.
**** knows what the NT team is going to need, that they dream about up here...
To put it in perspective the $ 50 million they put into those two "bottom-less pits" could fund the current salary caps of the 8 "pure" SANFL clubs for the next 25 years. Or if they do the right thing and double the cap 12 years.
Port $16 Mill, money would be better spent funding the eight pure SANFL clubs Salary caps for the next two years at a $Million each
**** the AFL!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: AFL Season 2023
Collingwood sign Oleg Markov before Carlton did and now must axe a player before Wednesday (we’ll move a player to the inactive list).
Do they have any long term injured players? Seems like a rort to me.

Re: AFL Season 2023
For anyone that uses Kayo, if you join your club as a "digital member" it includes 12months kayo basic. Carlton has it for $250 which saves you $110 a year on Kayo alone and you get a few other bits and pieces.

Re: AFL Season 2023
The AFL have released another 2500 tickets for the sold out North v Brisbane match in Gather Round.
This game should have been played at Norwood (or Glenelg
) & the Freo v Gold Coast match at Mt Barker. Really poor ground allocation.

on sale 11am tomorrow - and I have a meeting at exactly that time, might have to be 5 mins late!
Mt Barker is comfortably bigger than Glenelg and Norwood - Im sure it could fit 10k, they are being very conservative with 7.5k, maybe parking is the issue.

Additional amenities? Portaloos, food trucks? Temp stands? OB for the TV networks?

Glenelg oval does have relatively recent experience with a 10K + crowd, Dutchman...

Norwood can take 20K , 20280 is the record and it is essentially the same ground spectator wise but in this day and age would be limited to more like 15K.
No game should have been played at Mt Barker.
