Hoping. Our rucks have been willing, but not controlling since Buckets' departure. I attribute our recent lack of success to his absence, as much, if not more, than the Gowans boys. Big call, I know.

In a massive blow to the Eagles, Nick O'Brien has announced he is returning to Victoria. The search must begin for an appropriate replacement immediately!

Yeah big call bud, although Buckets was indeed a great player

My thoughts are who gets the ball to the mids? He also, while not incredibly nimble, did a fair bit of chopping out and feeding off to runners. He knew how to use his bulk. I can understand how anyone would think that's a big call, though.

Was always on the cards. Thought it was a strange move for him to come over here
Harrison Slee – ankle injury, requires further surgery
Kieren Smith – country
Derick Wanganeen – country
Jordie Schmidt – country
On recent form Anderson and perhaps Tahana are the only major losses. Thiele has been a fine player but he never seemed to completely recover from his bad knee injury. Amato has slipped back alarmingly. Perhaps he needs a change of scenery.

Not many blokes left like him, to be honest less than a handful.
Hardly, left Glenelg half way thru 2016.
He didn't leave Glenelg half way thru 2016. trained all the way thru to end of season. got injured and couldn't get back into the side
I think Nason plays for Salisbury North now.

Perhaps not as big a call as some might think.
'Buckets', the man whom Nathan Bassett referred to (if memory serves) as "Central's answer to Peter Helliar" at Norwood's 2010 Grand Final wake.
Monument to hard work and perseverance, an example for team-mates and juniors coming through the ranks. Effective around the ground and his mobility frustrated opponents over the years.

More departures from the Eagles nest as Nick O'Brien has decided to move back to Victoria to be closer to family and Jake Von Bertouch has decided to take a year off to concentrate on studies.

Tahana's come along well, it's disappointing to see him leave. May not have hung around too long at any rate, but would've been handy in defense next year. The same goes for Anderson, but in a sense not surprised he's retired given the way he plays. As for Amato, could've been something but really looked out of sorts this year. Liked the way Gregg went about his business, too.
Reckon Wanganeen was at the club for more seasons than he played games.
