Re: Rd 20 2007 Eagles v North
One thing from this game I thought was the example of how the mini-draft has helped even up the competition. The former struggling club was able to pick up the likes of White, Perrie and Lonie and all contributed well for them today now they have moved up the ladder. Evened up the match for sure.

Re: Rd 20 2007 Eagles v North
The side was very settled and playing good footy prior to those inclusions, with the 3 AFL players back we lost, so I don't really see your point.
BTW, North did not pick up Perrie in the mini draft, South did, later on he transfered to North.

Would have been a better side without White, Perrie and Lonie. We managed to beat Central last week witout any of those guys and like it or not Central are a hell of a lot better than the Eagles. I will not go into detail on any of the players mentioned but i would have preferred to have Wundke, Kaesler and Stribling today.

Christ, I don't know how we beat Central last week which the Eagles haven't managed to do this year.
I'll name our mini-draft players that played last week:
PS No that's not a typo.

Dear Wedgie
My sincere apologies for one not posting a reply earlier - just got home from hosting our Quiz night at the club - the win made the quiz night really most enjoyable.
secondly no donut for you is a disgrace! - I know all 1000 went with the vouchers being given out at the gate when you arrived. I will gladly buy you a donut or two when we next meet.
Was a great day and i think both clubs showed they are quality sides.
The charity support today was also great with our friends from Ronald McDonald house having a great day and our sponsors giving enough $ to our Make a Wish family at lunch today very happy as their youngster's wish will happen with airfares and money for accommodation being arranged.
Critical game next week for us as Westies must not be taken lightly.

CD, I appreciate your sincere apologies but missing a donut today despite getting to Woodville Oval before noon and having many people arrive after me brandishing their donuts or donut vouchers has left me extremely distressed.
I honestly don't know if I'll be able to ever go to a game at Woodville Oval again without reliving my disturbing experience of not getting a donut.
Im not sure if a promise of one or two donuts will get me through this time of hardship.

I thought you said that LEHs' beer made up for the non-donut entrance?

Thank you CD, I look forward the counselling as I need it and I also look forward to more beers from LEH.
As the Eagles are truly great in handling distressed opposition fans what can you do for me in regard to the umpiring today?

Re: Rd 20 2007 Eagles v North
North arent going to choke out of the top 3 again ???
I watched the first three quarters on tv before heading to the dogs. I thought North looked the better side had a couple of rough decisions against them early. Well done to the Eagles for capatilising from what I saw it was a great game of SANFl footy.

I have no doubt who it was directed at.
If you purely add up goals from no umpires influence then the score is:
North 13 goals
Eagles 5 goals
If you take into account the 12 pt turnarounds from bad umpiring decisions (none went against the Eagles but 3 went against North) then an accurate reflecition is:
North 16 goals
Eagles 2 goals
And that doesn't even take into account the precedent set earlier in the week when the SANFL found Howard wasn't guilty of what the umpire charged him with so they decided to change the report.
Im sure the rest of the clubs are taking note in dont have a board member rock the boys club's boat like Greg Griffen did recently, they obviously don't like it!
North will be battling more than 4 clubs come this finals series, there's no doubt about that.

Dunno, hopefully but I doubt it, as I'd hope the club has learnt not to rock the boat now, you know once bitten twice shy.
So far (not taking outside factors into account) the score is in 2007:
North (3rd-13 premierships) 30.23-203
Eagles (4th-2 premierships) 26-22-178

Re: Rd 20 2007 Eagles v North
i saw the last 1/4 on tele
there were 3 holding the ball decisions in the last 1/4, and there was one that was more obvious then the 3 that were paid about 30m out from the eagles goal on the members side that wasnt paid, not sure who would have had the kick.....

Re: Rd 20 2007 Eagles v North
Over the years I've seen many poor displys of umpiring, yet I can't recall ever saying that it made a difference to the outcome, usually I'll state the opposite. Yesterday was the exception, at the game I thought poor umpiring cost 4-5 goals, after watching the game when I got home it was probably worse.
Some of the frees were maybe open to interpretation, and if consistantly payed all day with the same interpretation you would possibly accept the decision. Rowston in particullar was inconsistant with his interpretation, Avon not much better. Most of the 50/50 decisions went the way of the Eagles. The Eagles scored a lot of goals from frees, a couple were warranted, others were not, there was also a couple of decisions that should have seen North lining up for goal, but instead saw the Eagles stream out of the back line, and goal for a 12 point turn around.
Having said all of that, North themselves also could have negated the umpiring by playing 4Q of footy instead of 3.
North will not fear the Eagles, they played the better footy for 3 of 4Q, and it is highly unlikely they will encounter umpiring of that standard again this year, if the 2 sides meet in the finals, North by 5-6 goals.

Yep, Glenelg fans don't travel whereas the Eagles just don't have many fans.

No offence mate, but I think Kenny McGregor more than covered for Grocke and Kenny would be a slightly better player in most people's books Im sure?
Very different style of CHF .Grocke plays the more Fergus Watts type of CHF .Kenny is different and is a great pack marker of the ball and would have him in front of the likes of Perrie .
The EAGLEs today lacked the forward who goes up the ground and brings the ball into the fifty .This is the style of game Grocke has been playing this year.
Dude, you can't compare Grocke to McGregor and for you to suggest you actually lost something today by having McGregor at CHF instead of Grocke is laughable to say the least (and Im friends with Adams family). If Im wrong them Im sure Adam will end up playing a lot more AFL games than Ken.
At the end of the day I think having Ken in the lineup is what got us the win...... played well in the 2nd half

How much have Perrie, White & Lonie played for the Roosters since 2004? Clearly you think these guys have been the catalyst for moving us back up the ladder which is news to me but I'll stand corrected
BTW, emember who was the Jack Oatey medallist in last year's grand final? Crows listed player.
