Re: Gay marriage, yes or no...?
I too agree it should not be an issue.
People should be able to formalise their partnership and have it recognised as such regardless of gender.
(However I do oppose public funding of IVF services - for anyone - in an overpopulated world.)

Re: Gay marriage, yes or no...?
This is possibly the most stupid debate ever.
As a friend of mine who has been with his partner 20+ years recently pointed out to me..."When I go to work. I go to work...not gay work. When I pay my taxes. I pay my taxes...not gay taxes. When I park my car I park...not gay park. So why is it if I want to get married it's gay marriage?"

Re: Gay marriage, yes or no...?
No problem with it at all.
I have a huge problem however with the government acknowledging in any way the church ( which ever one it is ) and their role in the legalisation of same sex marriage. The major religious groups around Australia should remember the old "people in glass houses" addage.(sp)
*edit*
Agreed LL, same sex marriage, not gay marriage.

I tend to agree with you but think those who want to should have the option.Wedgie wrote:I voted NO but only because I dont think anyone should get married.
(As I've told a female acquaintance who is hanging around a bit, " I've been married twice, there won't be a third or even a live in arrangement.")

Not concerned about gay marriages one way or the other, but fully agree with this last line.

Over populated world yes. Over populated Australia no. Anyone who needs IVF to have a child should have the right in this country.

Maybe if a couple is on their 3rd or 4th child, but for a couple who are trying for their 1st or 2nd child IVF should definately be a valid option no question.
I don't see the issue with gay people getting married, doesn't really affect anyone so of course they should get that option.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Re: Gay marriage, yes or no...?
I'm getting old. I remember when a gay marriage was one that referred to a happy couple!

I voted yes but wouldnt go to a gay wedding if invited, I can understand that they may have natural feelings for each other but I would struggle with it..... it's not natural for me...

As long as there are d!ckhe@ds who continue to vote for clowns like Fred Nile and the Family First fundys, it will continue to cause debate.

Preface this by saying I am not in that situation, I just don't believe because we CAN do it that we SHOULD do it. In addition to the population argument, I believe that is the hand nature has dealt someone, put up with it.
