Does anyone remember an LBW in an Aussie domestic match (T20 or ODD) where a player was given LBW but the ball hit the toe of his bat, not his leg at all?

Yes.
I remember one occasion as you have described at Adelaide Oval. Memory is pretty hazy, was it Gillespe as the bowler?

anyway, your point is?

I'm trying to find the dismissal as a candidate for "worst decision ever".

I hate myself for saying it but yes India have been right in not wanting the DRS. It causes more trouble than it's worth. Not a fan of Khawaja I got to admit but f**k I feel sorry for him after he was giving out last night.

You obviously wont mind if i piss myself laughing when Hirdy the drug cheat gets kicked out of the game and Jobe hands back his Brownlow then!

You would be the only DH in all of Australia and England that had that reaction

On LBW's, especially with spinners bowling, can the third-umpire make a call on whether the batsman is playing a shot? Ball might hit outside the line, umpire gives it not out thinking he played a shot, bowler disagrees - is this a basis for referral, can the third umpire disagree with the on-field umpire?

The 3rd umpire always agrees with the on field umpire, its the unwritten umpires code of conduct ;)

I know DRS suggests otherwise, but the benefit of doubt should go the way of the batsman.

Probably because his attempt to cheat, by using silicone tape on the edge of his bat, didn't help ;)

Yep supposedly players from both sides have been taping the edges of their bats with silicone tape which apparently interferes with hot spot technology

This could get ugly, could we have a null and void ashes series and the death of drs

Nah, the Aussies wouldn't cheat, just ask Stuart O'Grady or Jobe Watson...

Dont see what the big deal is.
How is it cheating?
Unless the practice of doing it is outlawed, whats the issue?
The inept ICC should be concentrating on bigger issues like ball tampering and slow over rates which is ruining the game.

definition of cheating below and yes it is cheating if anyone has done it

Cheating refers to an immoral way of achieving a goal, such as cheating on an exam. It is generally used for the breaking of rules to gain unfair advantage in a competitive situation. Cheating is the getting of reward for ability by dishonest means. This broad definition will necessarily include acts of bribery, cronyism, sleaze, nepotism and any situation where individuals are given preference using inappropriate criteria.[1] The rules infringed may be explicit, or they may be from an unwritten code of conduct based on morality, ethics or custom, making the identification of cheating a subjective process. Cheating can refer specifically to marital infidelity. Someone who is known for cheating is referred to as a cheat in British English, and a cheater in American English. A "cheat" does not have to cheat all the time, but once faced with a challenge that they do actually want to win, they will go back to their cheating strategies

People are saying get rid of HotSpot and the DRS, but the DRS is only an issue because the onfield umpires are so bad
