Sometimes I think the Gods are against me. Was really confident of being below 115 this month. My scales pooped themselves, overloaded perhaps, had to use the bathroom scales which show heavier than the ones I normally use. 116.3 and not happy.

I've lost just over 7kgs since footy season by counting calories, and exercising... Oh and not having take away or beer :(

Myfitnesspal on the iPhone seems really good, and easy to use. I've been avergaing between 1000-1500 calories each day.

Have you tried not counting calories? The problem I have found when training clients is they worry more about the calories they consume more then eating 6 meals a day. Even though keeping you calories down is just as important, you soon learn what you can and can't eat and the portion size you should be eating

You should try to eat 6 times a day even if one of those meals is a couple of boiled eggs you be surprised by how much more effective it is

depends on what you eat and how much training you do, people can put on more and people can lose over this time. Luckily for me my bulking phase starts as of monday.

A belated welcome to SAFOOTY, Im enjoying reading your recent posts
Please continue to keep up the good advice an insights

Im into a mode this month, and doing well
Im not counting calories, but understand what I need to eat or not eat
Im mainly sticking to 3 portion controlled meals per day
BUT
If I get hungry in between, I then eat up to 6 times a day

Basically I try and average 30 meals a week
That 20 of them should be the very right foods
That 7 should be right foods
That 3 can be bad to very bad foods

One thing for absolute certain
By having almost zero spuds, breads, and junkfood = loss of cravings by about 50%

Anyway a question
Is 3 meals OK if Im not hungry
Or are you an advocate of 6 sMALl meals, for sheer routine

I'm a advocate for 6 meals a day because that's what works best for a body builder who is cutting. What it does is every time you eat it fires up your metabolism, the most essential part of a successful diet. now there has been a lot of discussion on where it works or not. Now there are 2 types of diets in the world fat loss and weight loss. Fat loss comes from body builders and weight loss comes from companies like jenny craig and weight watchers. Now a fat loss diet (body builder cutting) is what it is, you are losing fat but also will lose a little bit of muscle. A weight loss diet is you see the scales going down, your cloths become baggy and you'll have to tighten your belt more. The only problem with these are yes you will look good because you will be slimmer but doesn't mean you are healthier, simply because the amount of muscle you will lose with it, hence why they all use the term weight loss and not fat loss. My mum finally let me train her starting last month, she was always doing these weight loss programs and wasting a heap of money on them, she did lose weight but never got to where she wanted to. She said to me the other day she hasn't felt this great ever on a diet, and thats because of one simple thing your body isn't using you muscles as a energy source. The first 2 weeks where hard for her to get use to because of the weight training but I told her once you get past that first hurdle you'll be fine. And the other thing is that she sees the positive changes in her body which is keeping her motivated to keep going.

I know i got a little off topic there but when I say six meals a day, you don't have to go and eat a serving of protein and a serving of veg you can have a couple boiled eggs, like 100g grams of chicken breast or a can of tuna as one of your meals for example:

Meal 1: eggs/ oatmeal/ toast
Meal 2: tin of tuna/ piece of chicken/steak boiled eggs
Meal 3: Tuna/steak/chicken salad or veg
Meal 4: same as meal 2 but won't have the same thing twice
Meal 5: same as meal 3 but won't have the same meal twice
Meal 6: Same as meal 4

Now you will need carbs to go with those meals but you need to work out your calorie intake level to work out how many meals should be having carbs. This is usually my weekend routine as I work afternoon shift it's a lot harder to eat like this my meals basically become Breakfeast, lunch, smoko, tea then I have a pre workout protein shake and a post workout protein shake as meal 5 and 6.

Mal if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to PM me I would be more then happy to help.

Does green tea really help? I have never heard that one

I take green tea in supplement pill form as i can't stand drinking it. I was getting much better results when using it then when I wasn't. But Green tea isn't going to help if your diet isn't 100% and your cardio and weight program aren't 100%. celery is one way i get through my cravings as is having hungry jacks or macca's once a week as a cheat meal. You probably think i'm crazing saying having fast food once a week while on diet but you'd be surprised that by doing this you will lose more weight and stay motivated until the end.[/quote]

GREEN TEA + STEVIA
Green Tea can be quite bland in its traditional form, but its an aquired taste for me
Adding honey is an option for taste
Perhaps try a natural sweetener called Stevia
Stevia is calorie free

WEIGHTS
As of today Im going to incorporate weights
Should I do weights daily ?
I intend to do them about 3-4 days per week and in moderation to start with

With green tea you pretty much have to be drinking it all day to get the same from supplement form. Especially on a 40 degree day your not going to want to be drinking a hot cup of tea.

No you should not do weights daily, 2 days on 1 day off is what I like but there is a lot of body builders out there that do 2on 2off.
