Absolutely, we're not stuck in the 80's where we send a 14 man squad to cover both formats.

If you're good enough to represent both (or all 3), you should be given every opportunity though IMO.

It is one reason why I admire Pujara so much, he values his wicket and concentrates on the longer format, he has no intention of developing is shorter form skills.

There is a thought that once CA name the squad they all sign a contract for the tour with set $'s. If they were to change the squad now they would have to pay guys out and considering the poor financial state of the game is that something they should be doing?

Hows Carey going, gone from VC of the White Ball teams, to his first test tour, to being told he isn't going to NZ and going back to Shield cricket

Well hopefully he and Travis take the bull by the horns and score big for the Redbacks and legitimately place a claim on an Aussie berth.

This is why it is crap!! You should now be picking the squad you would have sent if the SA tour was not on.

The next World Cup I think is a 20/20, so we should be playing our best team.

I dont care that people hate 20/20, etc. They are representing our country, and as LM said, we should therefore be picking our best team available, preparing for the WC.

They will still get plenty of chance to play Shield cricket and One day comp as season goes till end of bloody April!!

Carey will be back playing for Glenelg as our next game not till Feb 21, what a joke!!

Our grade competition is a shambles and we're upset Australia's next in line 'keeper batsman is playing grade cricket instead of a T20 against New Zealand.

I would've thought this is what we want/need! State cricketers playing more grade cricket when the opportunity is there.

Test players playing Shield when they can. Shield players playing Grade when they can. Everything that used to be right about Australian cricket!

Will the T20 side have to quarantine when they get back from NZ?

Yeah, beating up on a star studded Sturt bowling line up will do him a world of good.

While on the subject, have you see Chadd Sayers' returns with the stick this season?

At this stage no - cricket then home. I'll be away a fair bit the next few weeks, so better build some brownie points up at home.

Ahhh, no worries, I've gotta get used of rolling on hard wicket, the ball flies.

Yes
So they'd miss the remaining Shield games as well as the ones they'd miss while in NZ. Makes perfect sense not to send them.
