Think the ATCA have acted sensibly.....remember they had a bloke die in their competition a few years ago in much cooler conditions (high 30's) than this.

I believe there have been a couple of deaths on incredibly hot days, they have set there limit and have every right to enforce it.

Yep unfortunately any league is ultimately responsible especially in this day and age so there has to be a rule in place.
Obviously with any rule of this sort there has to be a cut off point.
At least the rules are clear and everyone knows early enough rather than rocking up to grounds and then not playing etc etc

Re: ATCA 2013/14.
Playing in temperature like this weekend would be enough to turn a lot away from the game.

Dumb comment.
Mixture of ages playing in the higher grades with different pain and body thresh holds.
These players have different fitness levels to each other and life is far more important.
Correct to the person who made the comment people have died in the past few years.
Guess what?
No one did this weekend.

Re: ATCA 2013/14.
Was disappointed all A grade games got called off. Surely at that level the fitness of the blokes should be good enough to have no concerns for their health. Geez I remember Valentines Day 2004 where it was a ridiculous temperature and we all played and were fine just ad a lot of extra drinks breaks and finished later. I can understand the lower grades and juniors etc. where preparation may be off, but A1's to A4's surely not. Anyway just my opinion.
I do however understand it is the lawyers fault for their new age litigate against anything mentality when there is half a sniff of some compensation which has forced the ATCA's hand, I just think it is sad that a summer sport cannot play its game in summery conditions. Was a beautiful day for cricket wasted.

Do A1 and 2 have a lunch and tea break?
I played on the weekend and the only thing that made it tolerable after the first session was the 2 breaks where you could have a cold shower, sit in the aircon for 20 odd minutes and rehydrate etc. If Iplayed in a game without the 2 breaks it would have been extremely tough no matter how many drinks breaks you had.

Re: ATCA 2013/14.
I have to admit it was pretty hot saturday. We had a 2hr centre wicket hit that started at 11. and although i've played in hotter conditions i wouldnt have wanted to be in the field ALL day, ala Southern Districts A's.

Don't worry lads, the forecast for this saturday is 40 already, and it keeps creeping up! (Was 35 Saturday night, 38 yesterday and now 40)....
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
