Have lost 14.6kg in 17 weeks and am over half way to cashing in my membership to The Centurians Club
Down to 112.9kg
Next goal...111.4kg.....BMI will drop from Obese to Overweight
BMI is a joke as it doesn't take in to fact fat and muscle. You can have 2 people same height one can have a higher body fat % then the other but according to the BMI they are healthier then the other person. Also there would be a few boys in the afl that would be classified as obese. Best thing to do is get some body fat callipers and record your body fat, i can tell you once you see the BF% going down it will make you more then happy with what your doing. But good work on the losing 16kg keep it up and you'll get to where you want to be.

Changes I have made White and WholeMeAL Breads to Multigrain bread White and other Rices to Basmati Rice
These are some recommended Breads and Rice for lower GI consumption
BREADS Multigrains Sourdough Stone Ground Flour
RICES Long Grain Basmati Doongara [never heard of it] Japonica Imported Rice [never heard of it]
I don't really worry about GI Foods, I eat multigrain bread and I have since I was a kid I love it over white and wholemeal. I eat white rice because I hate brown rice and really there isn't any nutritional value for me to brown over white. The only difference is you loose a lot of vitamins and minerals in white rice, but taking a good quality multi vitamin covers this anyway.

I don't worry about GI foods either, but just generally don't add sugar to anything and choose "lite" milk. I do however use real cream - just a little Bulla full cream - on my peaches or Apricots. I don't eat cheese at home and rarely have any bread in the house.
I must admit the women in my life have always cooked for me - even between my two marriages - so I never bothered for myself. I did help out occasionally and have basic knowledge of cooking but lack the motivation to spend the time on it. So, my diet is dictated by "quick and easy", and, therefore, tend to rely in Weightwatchers, Healthy Choice, and Lean Cuisine meals, which are not ideal because of preservatives etcetera.
I do OK on those, and slowly loose weight until I weaken and eat too many nuts or too much chocolate. Increasing exercise is now on my agenda.
I am reading Sweet Poison at the moment and it’s a very good informative read. The biochemistry information in the book is interesting. I think it may finally cure me of my chocolate addiction!
