I didnt sign up for Foxtel 20 years ago to watch WWE, UFC and cornhole championships.

I watch the Ch 7 for cricket in summer as Kerry O'Keefe was funny 20 years ago when he was on the ABC.

I loved watching MusicMax, Eurosports and Fox Footy was best 20 years ago when it showed the Winners with flares, and old SANFL and WAFL footy

Today I get an email it's going up $5 again

Time to can it
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

How much is Foxtel nowadays?
Dunno, I think just over $100 for multi screen and every channel.
It did go down for us recently as they took out multi screen as an added option.
I pay $78 for every channel and use FoxtelGo app on other devices

It’s an absolute lottery, depending on your negotiation skills and luck with who you deal with at renewal.

Some people are paying less than $50 for all channels, others are paying well over $100, but most are probably between $60-$80.

It’s a yearly dance I hate with a passion, and tend to get best results by going straight to disconnections.

I used to go through this rigmarole and finally decided enough was enough. As you mentioned there seemed to be better deals for some with no rhyme or reason why it should be so. We were on platinum as "Diamond Subscribers" since the late 90s and it made me feel like I was going cap in hand and asking for some sort of charity instead of what should have been a standard loyalty bonus.

I, too, used to go the disconnections route with varying levels of success. Eventually when I rang the last time I told the rep I wasn't interested in "analysing my viewing habits" or horse trading this or that package and that I was about to make him a one time only offer. $50 take it or leave it. After the usual "I'll have to talk to my manager", lo and behold the manager came on the line and he said he couldn't approve my offer and would like to analyse my viewing habits. Told him the $50 was off the table as it was one time only. Offer was now $40. He saw where this was going and asked me if I would like to disconnect at the end of the month. Told him "No now would be fine". Boxes were returned to parcel pickup within half an hour and I felt clean again.

I was paying about $85 10 years ago and decided to bin it when the kids moved out
Foxtel offered to drop it but nah - time to move on.
I recently dropped Netflix because I've watched everything - I will re-sign in about 6 months
I'll drop Stan when the rugby finishes - that pi$$es me off - you have to have Stan to get Stan Sport although Hotel Cocaine is currently on

I'm starting to sound like Psyber

I hear you … I’ve kept it solely for sports as Kayo is crap, the picture quality and UI of an IQ box shits all over Kayo, so I’m stuck with Foxtel.

Yes, I used to threaten to leave if they didn't honour me the deals that new subscribers were being offered, they usually succumbed, the time they didn't I left.

I joined up on a $10 per month deal via Telstra, I nearly fell over when I seen it had crept up to $35 P/M. I only watch footy on it so it's gonna get the arse once the season is over.

News Corp want to offload it, suggesting that someone wants to buy it … I don’t know who would be that stupid to even contemplate buying a dying dinosaur, but at the right price, who knows.

It just means that the value to subscribers will continue to deteriorate, to the point where somewhere down the track it will be become completely unsustainable for both subscribers and Foxtel, if not already.

I've never returned a box and never been charged for it, I kept them in the shed for a few months just incase but nothing.
