I've joined the list. Thought I had better change my eating habits now I have given up the durries. No carbs, no sugar. Just protein. Been on it a week . Think I had a carbo crash yesterday. Start exercising this weekend.

I've been on minimal carbs since Sept, low to no sugar and have no problems with energy levels, the more weight I lose, the more exercise I do, the more energy I have.

I think I've still got enough stores to keep me going a bit longer yet ;)

Once you hit about 20 your body needs less than 1/2 what it did when growing, it just stores as fat unless you are doing mega exercise every day

False.

Carbs are not specifically stored as fat. Weight gain is dependent on exceeding Total Daily Energy Expenditure, not on what types of food you eat.

Minimal carbs are fine. As long as you are eating some carbs to help replenish the glycogen stores.

Basically Atkins.

It's a good way to build up some motivation and see some change.
Many people don't' stick to something because they don't see a change quick enough. Doing Atkins means you lose some weight as a noticeable start and then go on a more regular diet.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

They are the most efficient source for glycogenesis.

Don't use a lot of energy now. ;-)

Want to loose some weight quickly over a couple of months, then continue with good food after. Please don't turn this into a duromine thing 'cause idgaf.

The results you see in the first couple of weeks is loss of water weight from carb elimination (which returns once you re-introduce carbs) and not fat loss.

]I lost 22kg through a high protien low carb diet, it's probably been the most effective style diet I have seen while working at a rec centre.

But it's not a life long maintainable diet, but that was fine for what I needed I sawcthose results very quickly which got my self esteem and motivation up in the gym.

I probably lost a few to many kilos but am now looking at putting on lean muscle so have now added 'good' carbs, like brown rice, oats, wholemeal bread.

Personally I think low carbs is a great way for someone to start if they are looking at losing alot of weight but they have to understand at some point they will need to start adding carbs back into their diet.

Honestly, when doing resistance training to add lean muscle, it really doesn't matter what type of carbs you're eating.
