They don't take into account the work I do from home in the evening or when I get called into work at 2am, and why should I be disadvantaged because I'm efficient?

No switching required, it's an evaporative air con. We have a combustion heater for winter which I never use.

Either the pumps stuffed or there's a blockage. Had a similar issue at the place I own and got on the roof, cleaned it out and it was fine.
Current place is beside and the tap that goes up there isn't on the exterior anywhere. I'm not allowed to do anything as we rent, so email sent, now it's a waiting game although there's a good chance I could fix it in 15 mins.
Probably a good thing, might fall through the roof at 114kgs.

Doesn't impact me, just more pub time. My weekend goes from Monday to Friday so can find things to do at night instead of sleep.

I'm going to suggest not renewing my lease because of it, it's a luxurious house with evaporative, what a let down, I can't remember what it was like during last summer unfortunately.

Common problem when they first get used for the summer is the float is stuck in the "up" position, thus the tank doesn't fill with water, the pads aren't getting wet = blowing in hot air from outside with no moisture. Yuck.

Evaporatives are great but not in a two story, I pity you especially if the bedrooms are upstairs. I made that mistake when I was 19. Moved out as soon as I could.

Yeah I've fixed that issue before in my house, struggle to get on the toilet let alone a roof these days and not supposed to in a rental anyway. It'll be something like that, a 5 min job which I'll have to wait two weeks and 25 emails for.

For 90% of our dry summers swampys do the trick, especially in older brick / double brick homes.

More modern places that are brick skin and gyprock internal walls get hotter quicker ( cool down quicker ) and, if not designed right can feel like they're not working at all.

The net effect is you turn the unit up higher, open more doors / windows to get the air flowing and eventually just bring more hot outside air in.

I think it's because of the high humidity we're enduring makes it seem fruitless.

I've been trying to research the ideal air flow for evaporative, need to work out how much of the doors need to be open etc.
