Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
My head says no leave it alone, my body says its ideal. Is there many days now where teams do bat all day? Probably not from Bgrade down I wouldn't have thought.

Brief discussion was potentially look at 11:00am starts, remain at 40 overs with 10 over max for bowlers.
I did suggest perhaps if this happened Div 1 could go to 50 overs per side - would be a good balance and keep some interest for the lads who like longer formats, but the feeling around the room was that the days would be too long..

Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
The basis around it is to hopefully encourage new players/teams to the comp, also that clubs seem to struggle to find players available for both weeks of a game or who may be less inclined to play knowing they run the risk of just standing in the field all day etc.
Most sides would bat around 50 overs on average per innings at a guess.
Would also eliminate those 2nd innings situations where sides are forced to field a few overs or whatever.
Downsides - those who like to bat time and build an innings, and like the 2 day stuff.. those who like to bowl long spells and tire an opposition down.. those who prob bat middle order and don't bowl and have limited participation in the game.

Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
I think it could be a good thing.
Definitely 50 overs for division 1 and maybe 2, 40 overs Division 3 and 4.
Also midweek knock out T20, 1 side per club to be played in late November and in December
Finish season 1 week early.

Option to have maximum of 10 overs per bowler instead of 8 thought.
Peoples thoughts? Comps obviously barely surviving.. might not be the worst idea.. although for the purists who like 2 day cricket its pretty ordinary..

50 over a side cricket would be a long day. Like the idea of early starts, but that might upset a few with Saturday morning work, and clubs that have school cricket on it, in the morning.
I like the variety we have in our comp now with 5 X 1 Dayers, 5 X 2 Dayers and 3 X T20 matches.

Thats because your batting is as boring as bat shit and you would probably have to retire. Which would be a good thing and entice a few back to Rose Park that left because they fell asleep watching you bat.

I nearly got rid of that Henderson bloke this season......until he showed up again on Saturday. Gonna have to bat slower

I like the variety as well, but can see what it's being explored as an option with the comp not growing.
Apparently a one day comp means may attract some nearby clubs such as Adel Warriors (Cedar College), Redwood Park and Mt Terrible who all play 1 day comps in rival comps.
50 overs would be a long day, but good for those who bat time.. I think if its 40 overs then 10 over max per bowler wouldn't be so bad - better than 8

Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
Bite the bullet and merge with Para-Districts. The standard in both comps has dropped off immensely. I understand neither comp wants to lose naming rights and years of tradition but something really needs to be done. Churches comp with all due respect is on it knees and I foresee the same for Para Districts comp. I guess at least Para Districts fill a U/21 side each year so there is some future.
Both comps need it but I can't see either comp wanting to merge. Time will tell I guess.

Merge the comps, PDCA to control two day cricket and C&CCA to run the One day comps, if they are already looking at going down that path.

Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
Can't see a merger taking place, more like C&CCA disbanding and PDCA absorbing most clubs.. But I think C&CCA may hold out one more season with the carnival coming up - if things aren't improving etc this time next year then it'll probably mean the end of the comp.
It's disappointing because it is good having different associations, but the standard is very poor.
For what it's worth Carey I probably could've got an u/21's side if everyone was committed but the blokes at the top end weren't interested or available (Hancock, Phelan, Bury, Polanski, Hedges, Kelly, Phillips, Carmichael) .. Would've been quite a competitive side actually.

Re: C&CCA Season 2015/16
40 overs one dayers, 1pm start time, finished by 6pm are God's gift to cricketers
Morning off, get to bat/bowl every week, no 2nd innings, easier with player availability.
